After four years of wanting one, I finally have a Viper in my garage. Thank you to everyone from this board that answered my many questions on making this acquisition. Your help has been invaluable.

Basically, I stumbled across the exact deal I'd been looking for about a month ago. Due to a hectic work and travel schedule, the seller agreed to postpone our "closing" until today. My wife and I drove the 100 miles to his town last night, had a nice dinner and checked into a local hotel. This morning we exchanged $$ for the title and the car was all mine. By 11:00 a.m. the transport I'd arranged arrived and brought the car to my home without any problems. We had a beautiful sunny high 70's day here in Ohio (rare for Ohio). I washed the car before I even took it for it's first drive. Drove about 70 miles today. Back roads, highway, in town, a little bit of everything. We love it. Initially, my wife wasn't sure about getting the car in yellow. After one day I think she loves the color more than I do. She can't stop talking about how **** it is (which is a good thing for me).

I've read threads on this board about the attention the car attracts. It's really hard to comprehend until you experience it. It's almost like you're driving a UFO or something. People really fall all over themselves to get another look or to comment on the car. It's really unreal.

Anyway, I'm loving the car thus far and very, very glad tomorrow is Sunday.

Congrats. How many times did you go look at it in the garage tonight? I remember doing it alot.

BTW. why the transport if only 100 miles away. If it was registration how were you able to drive it 70 miles when it arrived at your home

PhilC,

Did the transport for a few reasons. First, while I do plan to drive the car, on purchase date it had only 3,659 miles. I'd like to keep the miles somewhat low and thought I'd prefer to put the first 100 on (for me) doing something other than just driving home on the highway. The other reason and perhaps the larger one is that my wife wanted to go with me to get it. She is very concerned about me having this machine as she a safety nut and knows how I like speed. If I drove it home she would be following me the entire way, and, well, that wouldn't have been good for anybody.

Actually, it was kind of a trip having it transported. Since it was only a 100 miles and since I (wife with me) would be following, I was fine with an open flatbed. It was amazing watching the other cars on the highway slow down and just stare. There was a guy in a tricked out 3000 GT that blew by us at I'd say 90+ mph. As soon as he saw the Viper on the truck he locked it up and about went off the road. He paced the truck for several miles with his head bouncing back and forth between the road in front of him and the Viper on the flatbed. Kind of fun to watch and for a few bucks I've added 70 miles to the car instead of 170.

Now I just need to join the VCA and order a few mods and I'm ready to roll.

I'm up to about 130 miles. They come quickly on this car, very quickly. I know you all know what I mean. I promised myself I wouldn't get into WOT until I got a real good feel for the car. And, for the most part I haven't. But once you get going and you know you've got good traction, well, it's hard to keep the snake contained. It just wants to go. Took a buddy of mine for a ride this a.m. We opened it up a little and he couldn't believe how effortlessly the car pulled forward. His comment was you can tell this thing doesn't get its power from high revs, feels like the engine isn't straining a bit to accelerate. Exactly!

I'll try and post some pics (as soon as I figure out how) tonight or in the next few days. Oh yeah, my wifes favorite feature on the car: the stereo that automatically raises and lowers the volume based on speed. No wonder she's considering a vette as a daily driver. For me, I love the simplicity. I don't need/want all that gizmo crap. I wanted a street legal race car and I got one. Love it!

Hey Bob..........congratulations on the car. I have a 02 yellow RT, lowered.

Yesterday, a couple passed me in a BMW convertible on I-75, and they both turned around to look for such an extended period of time, that the driver drifted into my lane just in front of me without even realizing what he was doing.

Yellow magnet.

Mesmerizing.

Spellbinding.
