Snake Oyl\'s 5 Point Harnesses

Anyone using the Snake Oyl 5 point harness in there car. Looking for input on confort and saftey. I will never drive on a track, just looking for a little more saftey on the streets, just in case.

What are some other options for 5 pts harnesses.

thanks

Re: Snake Oyl\'s 5 Point Harnesses

I installed them in my RT/10
and love them... need snakeoly harness pads; to avoid redneck.
I choice the snakehead logo on the buckle.
Very quick and easy to use. not very expensive. and look great.
I would recommend them for street use.
I dont track my car either.
If i did probably would go 6 pt teamtech. but for me these are just fine.

Also the harness pad lettering can be painted.
check out the thread:

good luck

Re: Snake Oyl\'s 5 Point Harnesses

I have to disagree here. I had 5-points in my street car from the previous owner, and no 3-points installed. Using the 5-points on the street is a pain in the ****. Not only that, but for the 5-points to be used safely, they must be pulled TIGHT. And you must attach all 5 belts, including the lower. When you are secured properly, you CAN NOT budge forward. You are strapped in the seat, big time. Very safe, especially for racing, but uncomfortable. Here's the more important issue. When you come to a 'T' in the road, and you have to look left or right before making the turn, YOU CAN'T move your body forward and look. Remember, your strapped to the seat. There is no give. Basically, drive around where you live and keep notice of how many times you have to move your upper torso forward in the seat to get good viability. Whether it is to look left or right, or get a different angle in your side view mirrors (checking blind spot). With 5-points YOU WILL NOT be able to do this, if worn properly.

Of course, many people wear them loose so they can move forward. Well, this is wrong. 5-points are only effective when worn properly. TIGHT. Therefore, you are SAFER with a stock 3-point than a loosely worn 5-point.

I would say stick with the 3-points on the street. Not so much for the comfort issue, but for not being able to move your torso forward in the seat. Although, I live in the city where I need to do this often.
