so how long should a set of rears last?

I am looking at a very clean 99 GTS with less than 10K miles and the current just put a new set of rears. He said it was normal to do that.

Is he a lead foot? or just wants to keep things 100%?

Yea it's normal to do that when you do lots of burn outs

but I would not let that keep you from the car if you like the condition and price.

Doug says I should expect 1000, maybe 1500 miles per set of rears. The right front will last 20K miles, and the left front (if it ever touches the ground) should last 30K miles.


Seriously? 10K's ok for a set of rears, although it suggests either the tires were underinflated or the driver was *ahem* spirited in his use of the loud pedal

I pretty much use old XGTZs with "100" treadwear ratings and get 8000-9000 miles for rears, 13000 miles for fronts (they are 140 treadwear.) I autocross, drive daily, but very rarely do burnouts. It's the tradeoff between sticky and longevity.
