I heard from 2 people that it was being lowered.

One person said to $1600 or $1800.

Since it sounds like it hasn't, does anyone know what happened?

The big Rip Off of the GGT is that it ASUUMES the vehicle will be driven a specific number of miles per year.

Based on previous statistics, Viper should get a tremendous credit.

Ha Ha - what must I be smoking!

What is the gas guzzler tax on the SRT-10? I noticed a 1 mpg improvement (to 12 mpg) in city mileage, but the same 21 highway.

Well, that would suggest no change.

The previous/current GGT is $3000.

It is still so bogus because of the expected yearly mileage Vipers are driven.

Totally Bogus...

Sure, it looks like GWB is looking to reduce taxes on DIVIDENDS!

HAHAHA

Since all the smart rich folk took their money out of the market when it was smokin' and put it in income producing intruments which generate DIVIDENDS!

Bur seriously folks. You get a few percent return on your dividends and then the IRS takes 30% of that.

That's almost as bad as taxing UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION. Which is, in fact, illegal because it is an insurance payment which is not taxable.

It's always, too little and too late with me!

Stocks generate dividends, bonds generate interest. Commonly discussed proposals deal with tax treatment on dividends. If you want zero tax, look into tax-free municipal bonds.

Always amazes me that you avoid the GG tax when buying a big, low mileage SUV!

Don't get me started on those abominations, SUV's.

But you must understand, SUV's are from Jesus, and Vipers (and the like) are from Satan.

Looks just like my 2000 sticker with regards to the GGT.

I wonder what was all the talk about the lowering of the cost of the car?

Perhaps wild rumors confusing the elimination of Lux Tax?

Let's face it, with a slightly modified SRT engine, there is no way the Fuel Economy could have been changed and hence the GGT.

Unless there was some kind of legislation pending.

It doesn't look like my window stickers. Notice the GGT was not included in the MSRP of the SRT-10. It WAS included on my '99 and '02. This makes the SRT-10 $3000 more expensive, depending on how you look at it.
