So I'm planning to order a gen V Viper but I'm not sure if I want a GTS or a SRT model.
I have some questions I hope you all can help me with.

1. What is the alternate seat belt color option? What color is the seat belt?

2. I don't see the track pack available as an option anymore. Is this correct?

3. The dealer says I can order adrenaline red with white stripes. Cars.com says I can also. But on the Drivesrt.com site it says that color combo is not available. Does anyone know the truth on this?

4. My Viper will mainly be a track car and a weekend cruiser. Which car will be better for me GTS or SRT? which car will handle better on the track?

5. Will the Advanced Aerodynamic package be available as an aftermarket item? or can I add the aero package later when I have more money? Will it be cheaper just to get it now with the car?

6. Will the Exterior Carbon Fiber package be available as an aftermarket item? ie same questions as in #5.

7. Grand touring package was available for SRT in 2013 but not 2014, so are these items now standard items in the SRT?

Thanks for all your help. :rolaugh:

Not sure where in the Bay Area you're exactly at, but you might want to have a chat with the guys at Normandin in San Jose. Paul Normandin is a VCA member, and from what I've seen, he's making the investment to be a top notch Viper dealer. His team can likely answer all of your questions, and they seem to have very much a "no BS" pricing philosophy. As far as some of the other questions, it sounds like you might want to have a look at the TA package - there are a number of them out there that are allocated but unsold. I personally like them - they have all the track stuff, and the price is pretty good (around $120k) for the options included. My suggestion would be to get the aero stuff with the car if you can - these cars are weird in that future buyers put a lot of emphasis on the "right" options bought at the time of purchase, and often aftermarket non-OEM stuff that was available on the stock car can actually lower the value. Some of the options are a bit expensive and not worth it in my opinion (like the various stripe, paint colors, or leather interior options), but some packages (like the TA package) will likely hold value and really make the car a lot more fun.

1. Base seatbelt color is black, but red belts are a $500 dollar option and look good in person. I liked them much better than I expected and it added some nice color to the interior.

2. Track pack is not available, but has been itemized. You can get the wheels and corsa tires as separate options ($1700 and $800, respectively), but the track pack rotors are no longer available for the SRT. They are now standard on the GTS. That said, you could probably order them from the dealer separately (since it is now a standard spare part for the GTS) and have them installed like an after market part.

3. Don't know about the stripes.

4. I think the SRT is better as a track car/weekend car. I haven't driven the GTS, but the SRT was fairly loud on the highway due to road noise and engine drone above 72 or 73 mph. The drone was a bigger problem than the tire roar. It seems that the GTS has a similar drone problem and may not be that much quieter. I also like fixed suspensions and I don' think that the GTS is worth the extra ~$20K (for what I'd use the car for). If you like the full length stripes or the dual mode suspension, get the GTS. Both cars will be fairly load and stiff compared to nearly every other car on the market (in all the right ways!)

5/6. Not sure, but best guess is much cheaper from the factory. Not sure how easy the brake ducts are to dissassemble from the body. Plus, adding on or financing $10k in options on a ~$110K car seems easier than forking over ~$15k in parts installation a few years later with the potential for installation mishaps (which won't be covered like factory options).

7. Nav and back-up camera are both standard in 2014, as is the 12 speaker stereo. These are good upgrades. Visibility makes the car hard to navigate with and a Nav would be really helpful, same for the camera. Also, you can barely hear the standard stereo when driving, even if you aren't driving real hard. This can be either a god or bad thing depending upon the mood.

Best,

Nick

You have a huge bucket list here and IMO do a thorough search on the car plus go to a good Dodge dealer that knows Vipers. They can build your car with their computer with all the options and colors, plus answer a ton of questions hopefully. Take your time before ordering as its a huge investment.

Thanks for the replies.
I went to a dealer who had a LE on the floor. The manager didn't seem to know too much about the options. He just followed the instructions on his computer. He couldn't answer any questions with confidence. So I didn't trust what he said. That's why I posted my questions here.

Don't be afraid to shop at a dealer outside of your state. There are 3-4 major Viper dealers, with salesguys who are Viper owners and know every option on them. Woodhouse Dodge and Tomball Dodge are both sponsrs on this site. I'd say most of their customers come from outside their respective states.

I have no complaints about my SRT model. Also, it really sounds like the T/A package is perfect for you.

The car is worth a flight to one of the top dealers that know all the options inside and out. Spend the day asking questions and learning about the car. Then order it and it will be delivered to your door. What a great way to start the buying experience!

1. What is the alternate seat belt color option? What color is the seat belt?

Seat Belts are red

2. I don't see the track pack available as an option anymore. Is this correct?

Correct GTS Track Pack now standard for 2014 MY GTS

GTS price class–addedstandard equipment:
– Two piece StopTech brake rotors for lighter weight and improved appearance (was previously included in the Track Package)
– 5 mode electronic stability control, including the new “Rain” mode

3. The dealer says I can order adrenaline red with white stripes. Cars.com says I can also. But on the Drivesrt.com site it says that color combo is not available. Does anyone know the truth on this?

It can be ordered in Adrenaline Red with White Stripes on the VOIM system.

4. My Viper will mainly be a track car and a weekend cruiser. Which car will be better for me GTS or SRT? which car will handle better on the track?

I'd go Time Attack

The 2014 SRT Viper TA Special Edition is specifically designed for optimum on-track performance. The TA currently holds the production car lap record at Laguna Seca Raceway in California of 1 minute and 33 seconds, or 93 seconds. No production car from any manufacturer has achieved this time.

TA Content:
• Unique orange accent stitching throughout the interior including Ballistic Fabric Sport Bucket Seats
• Serialized TA Dash Plaque
• Carbon Fiber Engine Bay X-brace
• Carbon Fiber Rear Applique
• Advanced Carbon Fiber Aero Package
• TA Sill and Front Fascia Stryker Decals
• Ultra lightweight Sidewinder II wheels in a Matte Black finish
• Pirelli P Zero Corsa track compound tires

5. Will the Advanced Aerodynamic package be available as an aftermarket item? or can I add the aero package later when I have more money? Will it be cheaper just to get it now with the car?

It would most definitely be cheaper if you order upfront.

6. Will the Exterior Carbon Fiber package be available as an aftermarket item? ie same questions as in #5.

Same answer as #5

7. Grand touring package was available for SRT in 2013 but not 2014, so are these items now standard items in the SRT?

Here is what I see for 14 SRT

• SRT price class–addedstandard equipment:

– HD Radio with Navigation and Uconnect Access
– 900 Watt, 12 Speaker Harman Kardon audio system, including 2 subwoofers
– ParkView Back-up Camera
– 3 mode electronic stability control, including the new “Rain” mode
