Well, the '08's going to get here soon and I've got to make the move. :( It's either I work a trade-in and take a killing or sell it privately and take beating (I think that would be a bit better than a killing).

Anyway, my '01 is now listed at a reduced price.

Please contact me with any questions (other than selling only the supercharger before the car). If I can get a decent price for the car without the SC, you'll be reading about it here.

If it wasn't for the fact that my entire life (since 96) I wanted a 96 B&W GTS I would be all over this. Amazing price, I would love to fly home to NYC and drive it across country!

Atleast your a driver! My 96 has 46K on it, I cot it in Oct. and 3500 miles are from me! Good luck with the 08

You never know.....
I bet they would offer you more in trade than you think they would..

plus look at the sales tax break with the trade in... probably save around 3-4K depending on your state

just sayin....

WOW! I was actually thinking I'd get the reverse response. You all did see the mileage, right? From all my research, NO ONE wants a Viper with over 10,000 miles. That's not to suggest that I think the mileage is high. I love to drive my car and 7,000 miles a year is far from abusive mileage IMO.

I'm aware of the trade in savings. But it seems like most dealers are drowning in used Viper trade-ins these days.

Heck, I'd be thrilled to be wrong! LOL

I have 43K miles on my 99 and wouldn't ever consider selling for less than $55K. It's not about what's new and different, it's about what you enjoy the most. I think the mileage issue is over-inflated and usually by us, the Viper owners. These cars are just about as built as they can be and will last forever with the proper maintance. :headbang::headbang:

You are an F'in ***** to think you could get 55k for a 43k mile car.. Damn.. did you take on some chemicals when out in the desert Michael Sherboobhead. :omg::rolleyes::smirk:

I love how we all pat each other on the back, with how much our cars are worth, yet they wont sell for those above market prices people quotes. How about this, if you BUY the car for higher then the person is listing it for, THEN you have the right to say they under sold it. Otherwise, this is really a stroke fest, becasue we dont set the market, the buyers do.

Love Jon...

OK hero, I didn't say I could get $55K for my 43K mile car. I said I wouldn't sell it for less than $55K. Which means I AIN'T SELLING :D

But if you think the cars are worth less than what we hope they are, sell me yours for $42K :drive::drive:

If you aint selling your car, *** cares what you wouldnt sell it for? I'm sorry to break it to you but your attempts at forming some form of Viper OPEC aint gonna happen. Your reasoning for why our cars should be valued what you think they should (in your case 55K)makes me want to take a hammer to my own forehead.

10,000 miles on a (for example) 98 Viper makes no sense, Do we honestly think the the cars will be worth that much? Why sacrifice not driving, to buy a car for $75K to think it will be worth $500K in 30 years, thats not even a 6% rate of return.
1. Buy high mileage Viper(20K miles)
2. Absolutely pound the crap out of it. I mean, redline it, burn out, wheel hopping jolly good time.
3. Resave up
4. Rebuild current Viper or buy low mileage Viper that has been sitting around from a guy who realizes it was a waste he never "drove" or "abused" it.
5. Show said guy how to do a proper burnout!
6. Step 1, step 2, step 3...

Sorry, Rant, but I drove mine for 45 minutes this morning...and it was fun!:drive:

For all of you who are convinced of the "lingering value" of your Viper....

I haven't rec'd even a nibble of interest! At any price.

I think that some of the previous discussion is flawed. What's apparent is that there are 2 different market values that can be argued. One is the "immediate" market value; the value based on obtainable price within, say, a 60 day (immediate) marketing period. The second is the "best" market; the value based on obtainable price from the "best" buyer.

I'd guess that the "time factor" is likely worth a good 20% between the two.

If I don't see some interest real soon, I'll just trade it in and accept my fate. At least I won't have to deal with the tire kicking, "you never told me the paint was scratched under the space tire" shoppers.

Please let us know what you get in trade. You think you will get more than $39k? Just trying to watch the market. Thanks.

I believe high mileage vipers are going to take a real beating in the marketplace. There are just too many of them out there with ultra low miles. When I bought my 02 rt just over a year ago, the highest mileage car I came across had 18k miles.

Nice try, but you got OWNED by BugEater...

I'd recommend the hammer to YOUR forehead, however, I’d say it is apparent from your posts that you have attempted this exercise numerous times, and it has left you in this current state. At this point it would most likely yield little positive results other then perhaps keeping your drivel from making its way to this forum. Which... come to think of it...is of significant value…. so please proceed with another beating... But I won’t hold my breath on it stopping your future drivel... :2tu:

I don't know if I should mention this or not... but if I can't speak truthfully, then there's not much point to this forum.

I just purchased a '01 RT/10 with 46,000 miles on it. No S/C but the moter was just rebuilt (ported & polished heads), new clutch, fresh paint, clean Carfax and I paid $32K. I have seen many many '01 Vipers offered for below $40K (in various conditions). They, of course, don't have all the GREAT mods you've got but they are available. My guess is that a dealer will offer you between $30-35K. Just my feeling in the current market.

I personally would MUCH rather have your car due to it being taken care of by Tator's and the additional mods you've done. I certainly think your asking price is fair. Unfortunately, you are a bit more motivated to sell it than most buyers are to purchase it. I wish you luck that you come across a very motivated buyer. That's more likely to happen in the spring or summer though... not the winter.
Hope you enjoy your NEW Viper enough to forget about any selling hassles or beating you have to take to unload it. Keep on driving my friend!

A--B--C---????

Bu bu bu But, it my favorite stuffed animal that I have owned since I was 5! To me its worth 55,000 dollars!!! Nevermind the value of "Fluffy the bear" is only worth the phonecall to the salvation army in a real open economy...

Were in a recession stupid. I could have bought your car and the one for sale in this thread with the money lost in stock devaluation in my 401K since november. I am sure others have as well. I am not "anti-great-resale-for-vipers" as I own one, but for some reason illusions of gradeur that border the insane bother me enough to reply to this crap. Sorry for the rant. I will stop posting on this topic. Its pointless.

If it makes you feel any better, if I didn't already have a VIPER, I'd be all over this one in a heartbeat (mine's got 57,000 miles)...

Just trade it. Let the dealer make a little profit and you save on taxes, maybe, depending on your state. Anyway, its bad for the rest of us if you dump it. The dealer will hold it until the right buyer comes along bc they know there are just so many cars/deals out there. Just my 2c.

People want a nice Viper like yours on the first sunny 80 degree day. Have Chuck pull the blower and Vec 2 off.. you can sell that for 5 grand...Your trade in value will still be the same with or without the blower...Good luck...Al

Thanks for all the encouragement. I put a great deal of value on all the mileage that I got to drive, so I'm really OK with the depreciated value. Were talking about a difference of a few thousand dollars that can be amortized over the next 7 years of ownership here.

Like my brother Mr. Byrd mentioned to me, this kind of problem should be the worst we ever have to face in our lives!

That's a good point, trading it in with or without the blower probably won't make a difference, but pulling it and selling it for even a few grand separately should be good.
