Wow, did Chris Marshall, Mary Marshall ( and their two sons ), and the entire KC Viper Club put on a show! From Nascar Racing Limos, to incorporating the lunch hour into a ride along for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the event had it all. Many owners took advantage of the cut rate ,negotiated by the KC Club, to run the Racing Experience Nascar machines around the Kansas Speedway. Paul Greaser , Viper Challenge Series and SCCA racer, did 30 laps with the mercury hovering around 98 degress, and you couldn't take the smile off his face. Probably 20-30 folks took advantage of either the ride along program, or the full blown driving track experience.
Friday night was split between folks that wanted to go Drag Racing, and the wimps who wanted to stay in the air conditioned Suite at the Ballpark to watch the Kansas City T-Bones play. Yep, I was one of the wusses who thoroughly enjoyed the game, and the KC gang had two Suites reserved for the Viper faithful. Those that went to Heartland Park, Topeka , had an equally fantastic time at one of the best strips in the Nation. Unfortunately , hot temperatures, a stiff headwind, and high humidity kept the times down.
Saturday started with everyone gathering at breakfast prior to wandering over to the various venues set up by the strong Midwestern Club, and the autocrosses turned out to be a big hit. Though slightly delayed, everyone got a chance to run SRT-10s and SRT4s on two seperate courses. Everyone who ran the Gen III Snakes was totally blown away by the brakes. Most of us found ourselves stopping so quickly we had to actually get back in the gas in some cases to get up to the corners. Special thanks go to Mark Jorgensen , our Viper Service Coordinator, and Steve Glaab ( Ne. Region SCCA member ) , who came down and helped all day with the Autocrosses when KC Region found out there was going to be a shortage of workers.
The Saturday night party and dinner was an absolute blast with a fantastic Band, great Auction items, and phenomenal comraderie. This will be a Rendezvous that others will aspire to equal, and kudos go to one of the greatests Viper Clubs in the US -----all praise the mighty KC Region !!!

Sincerely,
Bill Pemberton

PS - the thanks go to what would be called the " Old " Kansas City Viper Club, as most of the previous NE/IA Viper Club was incorporated into this strong Region, recently. Those of us that came down from Iowa and Nebraska enjoyed the same hospitality as all the others who wandered up to Kansas City , but we did not have a hand in all the work, preparations, logistics, etc. The original KC Region members did a bang up job, and this transplanted member is very grateful for your supreme efforts.

Lunch was double cool with the Winged Warriors in town...I've never seen so many Daytona's and Superbirds on the track before...what a site!

The event was fabulous with everything- hotel, track, AutoX, ballpark- within about 10 minutes of each other.

The sponsors donated some great items including AutoForm and RSI...who donated a twin-turbo system!!!

When I look at the entire event, it's hard to believe that this is "just a car club". As Bill stated, the comraderie is amazing. The KC club, Chris and Mary should all be very proud of a job well done!

Thanks for the great weekend!!

Would also like to thank Chris, Mary and the KC gang for going all out and putting on such a great event. Non-stop action!

Still wondering how Chris got the racetrack, ballpark, hotels and great restaurants all built in the same spot.

Bill - Silly portrait customers keep calling and coming in. Messing up my Viper picture playing time. How about those of you cutting up the dance floor?

-- what's up with Marshall????

Not sure how to answer, but saw someone that looked just like him last night. Had a beautiful wife named Mary also. And a whole yard full of SRT vehicles too.

I might have been dreaming though.
