Speed Channel (Test drive 2013 SRT Viper)

I loved it when Kendall warned us and then got a little slideways coming out of the turn!
The wife and I were privileged and were able to drive the new Viper @ willow springs a few weeks ago. Car and Driver was doing a comparison with my 97 GTS to the 2013 GTS. It is an amazing Car; it kills me to read people talking bad about the Viper!

Instant HP reading is way cool ...

I noticed that for a brief pan during the track portion. They have that new feature (it's race / 1/4 mile multifunction from what I understand) on the Jeep SRT too. I gather it's an enticing marketing upgrade. I can certainly understand the benefits if, after your track session you could review all the details. But what's the purpose of having a dash distraction of your immediate HP production or latteral G's while driving? Should you really be concentrating on whether you can hit 600 HP, staring at your dash rather than perhaps the road ahead? Maybe you can idle it up to 600 HP?


No intent to be negative. But maybe I'm too old or tech naive to understand. I'd much prefer to invest that additional $500 in some weight savings or suspension adjustability. Guess it will grow on me.

Better yet, let's get our Vipers out on a track, and truely live the dream. Rick, where do you live? I'm heading to Laguna Seca in May, for it's maiden track day. If by chance you live somewhere in CA, join us! The Shadow Blue does look nearly black, but the pearl shows the snake's curves in the sun. It's almost a pearl black with a blue hue. It's a good vid to see what your beast is gonna look like. Amazing color.



No doubt, if you want sinister- the black with gunmetal is the definition. Hard choice, but the Stryker Red looked pretty freakin jaw-dropping as well, LOL. I have a similar question for you, Bob - I know how much you like the adrenaline red, but are on the fence. What about a Stryker Red for you? This vid really highlighted how nice the red/black standard Napa leather looks with Stryker Red. You could save the $7500 by skipping the Laguna leather, and put it towards the Stryker Red. Decisions, decisions! A fun dilemma to have.

Venom v I'm on the opposite coast here in New England. But u never know: I met Valentino Balboni at the unveiling of the aventador....in Hawaii! So anything is possible!!

More of a rally guy than a track guy to be honest. But I think I'm gonna try it once with the new snake & see if the track is for me.

The hp thing is not so much for the driver. Rather,the passenger or your G-Pro camera focused on your mph,hp and road ahead. It's useless but I do like it.

Me, too. I didn't know how much I liked it, at first sight, in NYC. The lights were dim and the direct lighting didn't do it as much justice as the sunlight. The color was beautiful at VOI on the test mule and the color really shows it's depth and pops in direct sunlight. It is an absolutely beautiful color in person.

I agree and it seems appropriate that the next comparison test include the aero, unless of course it's pre-production and has yet to be fully tested.....LOL
