I am bored so my posts are incresingly less interesting...6" of snow and still going here in CT. I have been SO carefull when handwashing my car. I never reuse sponges, etc. I noticed some swirling in the paint today, (Black '94) and I was upset. Could be from previous owner - any thoughts on semoving some swirling? What type of sponges are you guys using?

No sponges at all for us...Go to Zainobrothers.com for tips on what and what NOT to use EVEN IF you don't use Zaino Products (which are GREAT, by the way). He has suggestions for swirl makes as well. Good luck, and have fun !!!

I only use the wool wash mits. I buy a new one each year and cycle to old one for wheel, tire and under the rocker panel duty. Always rinsing in the bucket frequently to remove any possible debris along the way. I also rinse the car with soapy water and rinse before starting to take off any large debris.

Also of concern is the drying method. I tend to use an electric air blower to get the large water areas and the crevises and then 100% pure cotton towels to dry. I followed Zaino advice on brand, etc for towels. Planning on trying the micro towels once I find out where to purchase them.

Try www.griotsgarage.com for the microfiber towels..

I confess to using regular sponges for washing but I only use an electric blower to dry off the vehicle. Oh, and I ALWAYS use Zaino. :headbang:

I'm using a couple of cotton terry cloth wash mitts from Griot's garage. I dry the car with an electric leaf blower and Griot's microfiber towels, and I polish it with microfiber cloths. I used to use 100% USA cotton towels per Sal Zaino, but I think the microfiber towels and cloths are even softer, which is why I switched.

Do you reuse the mitts? If so, how do you clean them?

Please don't use spounges to wash...they trap solids between them and the paint, and you know what happens next.....the quality wash mits are the way to go.

Just throw them in the washing machine with the towels. I use one mitt for the wheels and lower body panels (side sills, etc.), and another for the upper panels.
