New England VCA Spring Opener Sunday May 6th, 2007 ...a Scenic Drive to Mystic, CT.
We will be meeting at the Willington, CT Truck Stop / Exit 71 Off of Route 84 at 12 noon (upon exiting highway follow signs for Dunkin Donuts, this has been our meeting spot in the past... on the way to Tator's Dodge). Shoot for 11:45 arrival and a 12:15 departure. You will have a chance to use the rest rooms, grab a snack, and gas up.
From there Dan Cretella will be escorting us on a nice Scenic Drive to Mystic, CT. Hailed as one of the top 3 scenic drives in CT. Our ride should take approximately 75 minutes from the Northeast Hills of CT, down to the Shoreline of Mystic in Southeastern, CT.
Once we get to Mystic we will be dining at the Steakloft Restaurant / website link here: http://www.jtkmanagement.com/steakloftct/ , figure on a late lunch at about 2pm.
After lunch you will have a couple of choices:
A.) Mystic Aquarium- About a five minute walk from the Steak Loft. Depending on interest you could spend an hour or two touring the Aquarium, taking in the different shows and exhibits. Admission to the Aquarium is $18.50 for adults (discounts for groups of 10 or more).
B.) Hit the Casinos- Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are very close... Gambling, Shopping, Entertainment, overnight lodging. We will provide printed directions from Mystic to the casinos.
*...or you can do both.
Please contact Dan [email protected] to sign up for this event. It will help to know a week ahead how many people for... parking in Mystic, Lunch, and admission to the Aquarium. Let us know if you will be traveling with a guest.
If Willington, CT is way out of your way and you want to meet up at some other point, please contact Dan [email protected] and we can set up another meeting spot along our intended route.
I will set up an earlier meeting spot before CT for the NH and MA members.
Please allow yourself plenty of time for unexpected traffic delays and plan to arrive early in Willington, CT.
Winters are long in New England so I am looking forward to getting this driving season started. This is a nice ride through the Southern Areas of New England. We have invited the NYCT VCA and are expecting a nice group of members and cars.
See you guys real soon!
Thanks,-Jeff Torrey / NEVCA
