For an 04 SRT that may see some autocrosses, a track day or two periodically, is a change over to Eibach's Pro-Kit springs worth the effort and expense to swap over to?

I know that it will lower the car by an inch or so, but is the spring rate comparable to stock in the sense that handling will still be good?

thanks

I didn't think there were eibach's for the srt-10.From what I have heard there is a lot more to dropping a gen 3 than there was a gen 1 or 2.Hopefuly a guru like Final Edition will chime in and set you straight. GTS Bruce

I was under the same impression. That's why most guys go with the Moton setup...

My thoughts also.
According to the online Eibach catalog, Eibach Pro-Kit 2830.140 will work on the 2003 Viper.
When I lowered my SRT-10 I called Eibach and at that time they didnt have lowering springs for the SRT-10.

If that's true, I'm a happy man! I just want to lower my car without spending a gazillion dollars! I'm pretty happy with the way it handles!

Not sure as they Eibach site lists the 2003 Viper with this wording:

Viper, Coupe & Roadster, 10 Cyl.
(Incl. GTS) 1996 2003

And it has no listing for a 2004 Viper. My guess is that the kit indicated for 2003 is really a Gen II kit.

thanks for all of the info so far... I believe there a more folks out there that have lowered their Gen 3's and I am quite sure that all did not use Motons. I will wait and see if I can get more folks to chime in on this. Again thanks to all who have responded so far. I have definitely slowed down on rushing to get the Eibachs at this point.

The folks that have done it have basically used either Moton or Aldon shocks. The Moton people seem very happy with them, although they are WAAAAY over priced! The Aldon folks seem to have lots of problems with their shocks. They are pretty inexpensive, but from what I've heard, they're not even as good as the stock ones. They do lower the car though! I don't really think the Eibach site is right. Apparently the SRT shocks are sorta maxed out where they are. Just adding springs will reduce the travel to almost nothing, which will result in broken shocks. No way to add bump stops either, so the only choice is to make a shortened fork for the rears. It's not really cost effective for anyone to make them right now, SOOOOO you can either pay out the ***** for Motons, pay less for questionable Aldons, or wait for something better. Skip White and Eric Messley are both working on a reasonably priced setup, but neither of them has anything yet. I'm waiting....

Not bad for Motons, but still very expensive, and then you have to buy springs. They're good shocks, but geez, they're really nothing special! Where was that quote from?

Direct from The Netherlands (the manufacturer). I have a friend in Nijmegen.

It is an absurd price for shock absorbers. I passed on the offer.

Jon B. has a set of shocks/springs that he likes.

Big Carrot, is right on about changing the, "tuning fork" in the rear. It must be made lower, to allow for a decent length bodied shock. Not much room for error here. I'm going to start this project next week. I've been so busy getting setup in my new shop. I've been through hell and back with the SRT suspension, but there's no way I could have learned what I know now about suspension, without the problems I've encounterd along the way.

One thing is for certain, when I come up with an effective setup for the SRT, that will allow us to lower the car a bit, and change/control the ride characteristics, it won't cost $4500.00 Quality will not be sacrificed. I'm on it, and hope those that want this wonderfull mod, will hang in there.

The coil over shocks that JonB has are new. They may not be on his website. They are in the $1600 (plus minus) range. Write him for details.

I installed the latest generation Aldans on the SRT, to replace their previous version, about a month ago.
According to Robert at Aldan all the previous issues have been solved.
The Aldans utilize the stock shock fork.
The one item that is still on my wish list is a bearing in the top mount instead of the traditional sleeve and urethane bushing.
The weather has kept me from putting more than a few miles on the new setup. I will let everyone know how they perform when the weather clears.
One other item worth mentioning is that I saw a drastic improvement when I swapped the springs the kit came with for Eibachs.
Robert at Aldan has been very helpfull, I would direct questions directly to him if you are interested in purchasing Aldan coilovers. 310-834-7478

Skip good luck with the new shop!

I haven't spoke to Robert at Aldan in a while. I hope he has made avancements in the coilovers. The application was the only major problem about them. The price can't be beat on Aldans. I may give him a call and I will insist on them having a sperical bearing on top, plus a bit stiffer valving, and oil in them, I then would want a spring that is rated high enough to resist bottoning out. No more than one inch or so, can the car be lowered. Not enough piston travel. The Aldon is functional, but I really want to check out a few other options.

Brian, has really been a great help in letting us know what inprovements are being done. The change to Eibach springs is a must, or Hyperco is even said to be better.
