SRT/10 14\" Brembo Kits

I just got off the phone with Brembo and they just got some kits ready that I think will interest you guys. They are as follows;

2002 model 15" rotors, 8 piston calipers Retail $4295 Our Price $3995
SRT/10 model 14" rotors, 4 piston calipers Retail $3295 Our Price $2995

But here is the best part and not many companies can offer this, not even Tirerack, custom caliper colors. If you want to send along your paint code they will color match the calipers to your car for an addition $300. So if you have a '96 Blue and White GTS you can have Blue calipers with the white "brembo" logo on them, or maybe yellow and black, steel grey and silver, etc. Obviously you SRT/10 guys don't have alot of colors to choose from yet but that can be for future reference.

Typical Brembo GT kit components include:

Exact specifications/dimensions vary per vehicle’s requirements.

Item Description
1 Right caliper (with brake pads installed)
1 Right caliper bracket, with nuts and washers
1 Right rotor (disc & bell assembled)
1 Right Goodridge® stainless steel braided brake line

1 Left caliper (with brake pads installed)
1 Left caliper bracket, with nuts and washers
1 Left rotor (disc & bell assembled)
1 Left stainless steel braided brake line

2 Brake caliper inlet fitting or banjo bolt
2 or 4 Brake caliper inlet copper sealing washer
2 Brake bleeder hose
2 Loctite Capsule
2 4-inch Brembo die-cut sticker

1 Caliper bracket diagram
1 Installation Instructions

Re: SRT/10 14

Doesn't the SRT already stop shorter than just about any (or any, for that matter) production car on the planet? Though I suppose you can never have too much stopping power. So how many feet would my $2995, plus labor, shave off the already eyeball popping stopping distance of the SRT?

Re: SRT/10 14

true. i would like to see a comparison test. i have seen in several magazine articles that aftermarket big brake kits can make the stoping power worse than stock. even the almighty brembo kits. not starting any crap. just want some facts.

Re: SRT/10 14

I saw MotorWeek on TV tonight (actually, it was the show from a few days ago; I taped it and watched it tonight) and they tested a Porsche TT and a C4S. The TT took 117 feet to stop from 60 and the C4S was a few feet longer than that! Even the 117 feet is longer than my Lexus GS 430 (115 ft. according to R&T) and no where near the 99 ft. that one of the magazines obtained for the SRT.

The point is: it seems like a person would really need to have $3k to totally throw away to want to upgrade the brakes on an SRT. And they'd probably end up with less, rather than more, stopping power. On the other hand, the car would be $3000 lighter, so maybe it would be a wash.

Re: SRT/10 14

What I want is the SRT-10 brakes on my GTS. The SRT-10 brakes are the same as one the competition coupe, correct? I don't see how this is an upgrade.

Re: SRT/10 14

I talked to Brembo today and for some reason we got our info crossed. The '02 Vipers have the same kits as the '92-'01 and with the 14" kits you have to run 18" wheels.

As far as the SRT/10 the kit is also different than what was previously posted. The good thing for you guys and the reason your cars stop so well now is the the SRT/10 runs Brembo calipers with stock rotors. So Brembo's SRT/10 kit doesn't offer calipers for you since they are already there but does offer better rotors. This is a 14" rotor that is full floating and is a 2pc. style. It eliminates warping and comes in either cross drilled or slotted. The front upgrade is $1295 and so is the rear. I will be able to work with you guys on the price though. Sorry for the confusion earlier.

Re: SRT/10 14

$2600, even a little south of that, seems kind of steep for new rotors. I've not heard that SRT OM rotors are warping under track use, though my own experience shows that the OE brakes start to go away toward the tail end of 20 minute track sessions, even with Castrol SRF fluid.

Do the upgraded rotors help with this? And do they decrease stopping distance? If so, they may well be worth the money, especially because drilled rotors look so neat. Let us know if you have any comparison testing of the upgraded SRT rotors v. OE SRT rotors.

Re: SRT/10 14

Godsil...on the surface it may seem like a tough crowd...but there is no disputing that the SRT-10 has world class brakes out the box so maybe one has to see the hard data to believe (so to speak :). As pointed out above, drilled and/or slotted rotors do look good, but IMO the performance has to be there to justify the cash outlay. Post any performance comparisons you may have to stock pieces for real consideration by the numbers. Thanks.

I didn't mean to be "a tough crowd." Not pointlessly so, anyway. It's just that I'd like to see some performance benefit before spending the money.
