You heard right! They’re finally ready!!! Last week I installed the first-in-existence one-inch-down, forward-and-aft-adjustable seat lowering assembly for the SRT-10. Installation took me about two hours, but if I had to do it again, I could do it in half an hour. My positioning in the car is much improved now that I’m finally looking though the center of the windshield (not to mention the increased psychological security of getting another inch below the roll bars). And the biggest surprise of all? I no longer need the sun visor for wind shielding purposes when the top is down since my head is now below all the air turbulence, and, get this, for the first time ever, I can actually use the sun visor as a sun visor since I’m now low enough in the car to see below the sun visor when it's down. Imagine that, hehe, an $85K car with a functioning sun visor. Fact is stranger than fiction. :rolleyes: Now I just need a lowering assemble for my poor passenger too. Oh, I'm a mere 5'9".

Many thanks to both JonB at PartsRack and Mike at Northwind Engineering for making this possible. Very nice work!

Two questions: How much and CAN YOU STILL SEE OUT THE REARVIEW MIRROR! I'm 6'0" and I have to scootch up a little to see cars directly behind me.

I must have a long torso and short legs, because previously if I sat up real straight (which I typically don't do when driving), then I looked right into the cross bar and couldn’t see out at all. Not any more. I haven’t had any issues seeing out the rear view mirror, either before or after the seat lowering, but looking over my right shoulder when backing up is admittedly more challenging now than before. And if I happen to be sporting the 6-point harness, forget it.

Not sure how your height can affect visibility using the mirror. However, I can say I adjusted my mirror position to be as high as possible to improve the line of sight. It has a adjustable ball at each end allowing the whole mirror to be raised.

You might have thought the designers would have made a car that a 5'9" person would NOT have needed a seat lowering kit. For us folks that are 6'6", this car is terrible!
Dodge is keeping folks like Northwind in business, but WHY?
The population is growing. PLEASE get the message!
I was promised this new car would be a better fit than the GTS, but John....you were WRONG!
How about a "factory" Tall Person's Kit???
TPK is better than SBS any day!

I got my kit, and installed it (driver's side only) last night.

Overall, it wasn't too bad. A lot less frustration than installing my Team Tech seat belts.

The instructions were a bit cryptic in places, but at the end of the day, the parts will only fit together one way, so there is little danger of putting it together incorrectly.

Best part of the install, is that you do all of the tricky stuff with the seat out of the car, so you can do it all in the comfort of your basement. It took me about 2 hours, but I probably could have done it a little bit quicker if I wasn't watching the Barret Jackson auction on the Speed Channel at the same time.

I am 5 foot 10 inches, with a relatively long upper body. The 1 inch kit lowered the seating position just the right amount. My forward vision is much improved. I am no longer having my vision mostly obscured by the top of the window. I'm now looking out of the middle of the window. An unexpected benefit is that my leg position is also more comfortable, and I have more clearance for my knees.

Wind buffeting with the top down is noticeably lower than before. The lowered height will also be useful in keeping my helmeted head below the roll bar.

Overall, this was a worth-while modification. I just wish that the car came standard with vertically adjustable seats.

Nice job Northwind!

Same thing here Ron :2tu: I actually called JonB to order the seat lowering kit and he talked me out of it...letting me know that I needed to adjust the mirror first before deciding whether the kit was needed or not.
It worked great and saved me some bucks too!

THANKS JONB...no sale but a definitely happy customer.

Vipera ... just curious, how does it work with the seat adjustment when you're leisurely cruising with the windows open and have your left arm resting on the door? I'm 5'9 and a maybe just a bit long in the torso as well and I see out toward the top of the windshield more than to my liking. However, for me if the seat was an inch lower the door would be too tall for comfortable resting -- can't have that. And yes, the visors with the top down are also in my line of sight (I do hate that!) but I was thinking of possible purchasing the RT/10 visors which I understand are approximately one inch thinner letting me actually use the visors for there intended purpose when going top down. Maybe an alternative solution for some?

I'm 5'10" with a pretty long torso.

Post lowering kit install, hanging your elbow out the window is definitely less comfortable than it used to be.

For me, the improved forward visibility, and increased clearance for my helmet made it worthwhile.

BINGO, Ron!

RT/10, GTS, or SRT...... almost all of em can benefit from a rer-view-mirror reset! Align the double-ball 'gooseneck' to achieve a centered view, as high up as possible, and moved right to maximize view. THis achieves 3 things:

Better forward visibility by getting the mirror UP and out of your line of cross-traffic sight looking forward;

Smaller blind-spots when you set the mirror stalk somewhat right (vs left) (farther away from you), the mirror achieves the widest possible reflected view for smaller blind spots;

Better rearward visibility if your sitting heighth can allow the mirror to be as high as it goes.....or as high as you can use it.
