Went to an invitation only SRT Viper Driving experience today in West Palm Beach. Turn out was low as this was the first one on their list of stops and my invitation arrived today. I only found out about it because a friend got his invite last Tuesday. So a lot of potential buyers are going to be disappointed when they get their notice in today's mail only to find out SRT has packed up and moved on to the next stop, which will be Chattanooga, TN on Nov. 15th. The good news is the car is great. I got to drive a 2013 SRT w/track pack both on the highway and in the city for about 15 minutes. It still is a Viper at heart and I thoroughly enjoyed the drive. They are looking for feedback and trying to get people in the cars. I am not really a fit and finish person. For me it's all about function. The things that were the most notable for me were, 1. Seat sits unusually high. 2. Car is as loud as a GEN III or IV with headers. Doesn't bother me in the least but the stereo crowd won't be amused. 3. First gear in the trans is too tall totally negates the 3:55 gears on the launch. They need to put back the first gear that's in the Gen IV. Lastly I have changed my mind on the transmission. SRT should keep it manual. Even though it is slower I still love rowing the gears, it makes it a Viper and connects you more with the car.
