Has anyone put the stainless steel mesh grates over the stock ones on the hood. Saw them in a photo and the look good.

Are you sure you were looking at a OE hood? I know for sure that one of the aftermarket hood photos shows/has stainless steel grilles.

Claude, looks good. Were they difficult to remove and replace?

NO, it was easier than I tought it would be. There are about 6 plastic push pins per grille and by placing a flat screwdriver behind each pin you can pop them out, prep and paint the grilles and put them back in place using most of the OE pins. If you break any pins you can get replacement ones at any autostore.
I tought all the grilles were the same but each one is slightly different from the other and has its own spot.
I like how the Black grilles stand out on a Red, yellow or white car, but for black on black I had to do something to spice it up.

I had louvers painted silver and they look great. It took all of 5 minutes to get them out. I also painted the gills silver to match. I have a bright blue 08 coupe. This single mondification makes all the difference in the world. It is a very sutle but very noticeable mod. And certianly ALOT CHEAPER than $559.00, especially when the owner of the body shop is a long time friend and painted everything for $0.00.

Depends on the color of the car and the hood of course. Mine is red so I had the grills painted black. Stainless steel would have looked ridiculous. I would imagine on some colors it may look okay. Maybe black.

i will post pictures of the stainless grills. Put them on last night and they look outstanding. They fit right over the stock black ones. I also put the stainless louver on thefront air damn opening on the hood.

I had stainless on my vipair hood and recently painted them black. Black is much better IMO...

Here's stainless:
