I'm serious, the more I think about it, do I really need those ugly wipers on
the car? Have any of you thought about doing this? I started thinking about it
after looking at the pics I just posted in another thread. I dont drive it in
the rain and have never used them. Do you think it would make the car look cleaner
or would it look like it was missing something? ( YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, YES OF
COURSE IT WOULD LOOK LIKE IT WAS MISSIN WIPERS, LOL ) This winter thing has to come
to a end soon, post like this just prove it, LMAO.

You should use the wipers one day. They look really cool when working :D As for deleting them, I dont think it'd be that big of a deal looks wise. Take them off, see if you like it or not and either leave them off or put them back on

It would be like someone shaving their eyebrows. Looking at them, you don't know what's missing but you just know something is not right ;-)

I know people that have pulled their wipers. It looks fine, and cleaner. However, unless you pull the wiper motors, you'll still have the posts sticking up. Otherwise, its trivial to keep the wipers in the trunk beside the spare tire, along with the appropriate sized socket wrench, and it would only take about two minutes to put them back on if you did need them.

You might consider using Rain-X also - on some cars (depends on aerodynamics), you can totally do without wipers with Rain-X -I never had to use the wipers in the lightest of rain up to the worst downpours in my old 1st Gen RX-7. Didn't work so well in the 2nd Gen RX-7, or truck, etc - all depends on how the airflow clears the beaded-up droplets.

IMO, removing the wipers from a street car is ricer 'show car' mod. IMO, wipers provide some 'texture' to the windshield/hood line, and without them, the car will look one step closer to bland.

My opinions of course, and you know what opinions are like. ;)

The first three hours of seat time in my current viper were done in torrential downpours.

Keep em.

It only takes that one time, your takeing a long cruise with the wifey and out of the blue is down pours. You would look pretty funny with your head out the window driving your viper.

Instead of removing them, just pull them up so they are sticking straight forward, that's a mod I've never seen before. :bonker:

Okay seriously now, if you take them off it'll make your car slightly more aerodynamic. That would be good for your 1/4 mile times (by .00001), but then could you consider your car stock?

Tom, if you curious what it will look like, go back to any pics you have from the 05 Rendezvous in Jersey. Do you remember the really fast yellow GTS that was there? He had taken the wiper arms off. I don't have any pics of it, but I'm sure you do. I have also seen pics of T1 prepped GTS where they not only removed the wiper arms, they removed the wiper arm motors and put black plastic discs to fill the holes. Made the cowl look pretty clean.

RainX is amazing stuff, especially when properly done and put on
a viper...

..... but

I wouldn't removed the blades completly. Some states consider
the blades an important safety feature and may impound your vehicle
if you try to drive through without them. At the very least you'd
be asking for an 'inspection pullover' here in DE. Also on a safety
aspect, say you do get caught in a downpour and somehow mud *gasp*
or some other slightly-less-liquid substance splatters on the
windsheild. The blades are about the only thing that's going to
clear your vision unless you want to get out an hand-wipe the crud
off on the side of the road during a downpour.

And lastly, there is one thing rainx has no effect over - early
morning window fog. On some freak humid mornings your window can
fog up in seconds on the outside - what will you do then, sit on
the side of the road until better weather comes by?

You'll need them as soon as you take them off your car. I can't believe you actually notice them. The only time I even notice them, or remember I even have them is when I need to use them... YES I drove my Viper in the rain, but in my defense, it was my first week of owning it and I still hadn't gotten my fill of the Viper fix yet ;)

I've thought the same thing. I keep them for the same reason I keep the soft top in the trunk...just in case.

It's a safety feature, please keep it on. I don't see the mud scenario but it is common to get buckets of splash from vehicles in the opposite lane. When that happens at 50+mph, you'll be glad you have wipers.

My comments about knowing someone that has taken them off as well as Rain-X were more of a third person comment. Personally, I don't see the reason to take them off - while it does look a little cleaner, who cares?, this is a car that is meant to be driven. Even though I personally will avoid driving the Viper to work when I know its going to rain, its more from a maintenance standpoint - mine is black, and *requires* to be washed after being driven in the rain  , as well as a somewhat safety standpoint - I drive the 4wd in the rain (*in* 4wd mode); it can take a hit from someone else without causing me to lose sleep. :) Still, I wouldn't consider taking them off; if nothing else, I will use the windshield washer sometimes.

As someone mentioned, lack of window wipers will instantly cause the car to fail any inspection in any state with a safety criteria, and is often a ticketable offense - one that is possibly more likely to get their attention than a missing front plate for those states that have them (perhaps because a missing front plate is not a safety issue).

I took mine off about a year ago. Had the same thoughts. I've never used them and probably never will. Here's what mine look like without them. I had the Autoform vented cowl made up without the motor arm holes so you can't tell there's something missing.

I just think it looks so much cleaner without them.
