Sticking ebrake caliper on an '03??!!!

Thanks to Ulllose, I found my issue from a previous thread was a sticking inside ebrake pad in the driver's side on my '03, which is apparently pretty common. There is nothing left of the pad except a piece of metal that used to have the pad attached to it!

That being said, I assume I'm ok to drive it now that I have pulled the ebrake pads out on the driver's side as long I am 100% sure to even think about using the ebrake at all?

Obviously I need a new set of pads, which is no problem, but how do you fix the sticking ebrake caliper problem? I don't want to put a new set of pads on and just wear the inside pad out again.

Any leads on where to buy the parking brake pads? My local auto parts store says they are a special order and no idea how long it will take.
I tried calling Jonb, but they are out of the shop at a racing event.
I found a couple on Ebay for a little over $100 for the set. That seems crazy to me since I paid right at that for the actual Hawk pads I'm running on the car right now. I just assumed the ebrake pads would be cheap. Maybe not, since the only ones I've seen are OEM and that lets them name their own price with no competition.

Did a little more extensive search on the forums and I guess it's pretty normal to wear out the inside pad first. Now I know to rotate them to get even wear, but it's too late for this set.

amazeing how they wear- chevy silverado has a inner brake shoe design that wear out to. i dont get it:dunno:

Seems crazy to me too.
Just ordered a set of 4 new ones from Paul Scharf for $105 including shipping. With those 4, plus the good ones still on the car, I should be covered for quite a while now that I know to rotate them.

I just changed the driver's side inner E brake pad on my 09 ACR. It was almost completely worn out. I asked an SRT Viper engineer (friend of mine) about it. He has seen it before but believes that the problem is caused by tracking the car. He thinks flexing in the hub allows the inner pad to rub against the rotor. After changing the pad I now believe that the problem is a result of the actuator cable putting pressure on the inside of the caliper and not flexing of the hub. I am pretty sure this is the problem. When you remove the caliper from the bracket you can see that the cable pushes on the cable very hard.

If you haven't checked your E brake pads, you should check both inner pads. If the pads wear completely down you will ruin the rotor.

COMMON PROBLEM. One hint: you can just swap the E-pads, inner-to-outer, outer-to-inner, but do it BEFORE they are too far gone.

And track rats can extend a full set of E-pads into TWO inner pad changes. = 50% of cost.

But waiting til the (hidden) inside e-pad is metal-to-metal can be costly, esp on an ACR 2pc rotor!
