Took my stock 96 GTS for its first dyno at Apex Motorsports in Santa Clara. 4 pulls with each run getting better numbers.

Best numbers were 399.3 HP and 446 lb-ft.

Those #s are dead on for a stock car. Your fuel curve looks good. Smooth tubes and K&Ns should net you 5-8 HP and 4-7 ft/lbs.

I went to Apex last Saturday to watch Ben dyno his car but he was already finished by the time I got there. So while I was there I dynoed my 98 GTS again (first time was at Mustang Ranch) with smooth tubes and K&N'S 411HP & 453lbs.Torque. At Mustang Ranch a little while ago it pulled 415HP & 451 lbs.Torque with the same setup. I think Mustang Ranch had a better (more powerful) fan to cool the the car during and after the pull which may account for the slight difference in power, still both runs were close.

Hey Ben, Apex said you were going to try a different set of headers which headers?

I'd say those numbers are just right. A couple of years back, I dyno'd my '96 at TNT with 11,000 on it. Smoothies and K&Ns only and a hot motor, it made 413/449.

We have a club dyno day scheduled on Saturday. I'll see what 4700 more miles, an HMS airbox and a rear X-pipe have done for it.

Partially correct -- I'll be trying the CDI headers, but that'll be in conjunction with a number of other changes (Hennessey heads, T&D rockers, flywheel, 180 deg thermostat) so there'll be no direct comparison with the Belangers I'm currently using. Current info seems to be that the CDI headers make more power than the Belangers when used on a modified car -- and are priced accordingly

I'm hoping to see 500 RWHP off of NOS when the dust settles ~6/15.

I just did my 96 R/T, arrow rebuild at 9,000 miles, smooth tubes and K&N's. My best was 386RWHP with 433TQ. Anyone have ideas on why my TQ is down? Several other earlier RT's had over 450TQ.

thanks,
Dave
