Almost afraid to post this question because it's probably been beat to death with different scenarios, but which do you think is faster?
Stock 06' Viper or stock 06'/07' ZO6? I only ask because my friend just introduced me to his friend who stopped by with his 06' Viper Convertible and he also owns a ZO6. He loves the Viper better than the ZO6 but he stated that he feels that the ZO6 is faster.
With both drivers being equal, what do you think?

Is this because of rearend and transmission gear ratios? :dunno:

No not really, its just a better power to weight ratio. The vette is a good bit lighter and has similar HP levels.

Our Vipers already have traction issues stock, so giving us 'more gear' is going to make it even harder to get moving without spinning.

Vettes also have traction control for off the line firing, we dont. But from a roll they pull us too, but again, thats power to weight ratio, not really the gear ratio.

Maybe a gear change could help for a little boost, but effectively gear changes help the bottom end, not really the top end, and I think the Viper is alreayd at a dissadvantage for laying down power on the bottom end, so I wouldnt make it worse with more "gear"

He's talking about the "quality" build on the roof of some Z06's. Several have had the Elmer's glue lose adhesion and cause the roof to flap in the wind:2tu:
Thank you. Some jokes are lost with the Vette windbreaker crowd...:rolaugh:

Actually, you can't use traction control efectively enough to take off from a dig. It doesn't come on in a linear fasion, and, when it does come on it takes a second or more for it to go back to normal. By then, the competetion just went by you. Nobody's getting the best acceleration times using tractions control.

All in all it's a close race that comes down to the driver. Everything being constant, yes, the Z would win. But that's rarely if ever the case. Someone's gonna' have a slightly better reaction time or shift a bit faster, and that person regardless of the car will win.

From my experience, the Z is more difficult to get out of the hole. Once you're up and going though, the Z is geared better and it's much easier to shift quickly. I've always gotta take it easy shifting the Viper (read, no speed shifting).

no movement needed just park them side by side. the viper looks like a work of art while the vette is a fattened up c6 with a viper inspired shape.

Our experiences are obviously quite different. I have both the POS Vette and a 06 Viper Coupe in my garage. ( Vette on my lift right over my viper ). I completely dissagree with you. Traction control on the z0$hit is quite good. Vipers have none.

GTS, is it a c6 z06? I am curious as to what comparos you make. I had one of the first 06 Z06's that spent 183 days in the dealership. Eventually it was bought back by Gm. Most problems were the lack of avail parts at the time. But when it ran well it was a beast!
