SSpeed Racer and I are again entering the annual Open Track Challenge. 7 tracks in 7 days (west coast version of One Lap of America) we will be running in Touring 1 class, meaning we must run street tires. The tracks will be Spring Mtn. Pharump, LVMS (ALMS conf.), Buttonwillow, Thunderhill (2x CCW & CW), WSIR & LVMS-Derrick Daily course (1.8 miles). We are trying to decide on the best street tire to use, it must be a 140 or higher treadwear rating. We pretty much know we're gonna run a Pilot Sport 335/30-18 on the rear, its the fronts that are a problem. For front rims we have pairs of 10", 12", 12 1/2" & 13". 275s and for that matter 285s push too much. We were thinking Pirelli 315/30-18 Rossa's with the same 220 treadwear rating as the Pilots. Anyone got any other ideas? We are only limited by treadwear rating. Anyone got any NEW MXXX3s? Has anyone ran a 335 Pilot street tire on the front? Any theories on how at 335 would work up front? ANY advise will be considered, thanks.
