Stripes - paint vs vinyl

I like vinyl. Cheap, quick to put on and can come off if you want to w/o any major fading. Rock nick on the stipe? Put on a new one at the cost of 30$

Paint is for the purists, cost more and if it chips it costs more to repair. But, lasts the longest and looks the best (depends on who you talk to).

I went with vinyl. Guess I"m a cheap bastad.. Looks just as good. I've seen original stripes from the factory and it looks a little less than "perfect". A nice stripe job would look just as good thought. But the price difference of about 300 bucks vs a couple grand for a job done "right" made me lean to vinyl..

Yeah, the price difference is pretty steep!! I'll most likely stick with white (I love this combination!!)

I noticed from your avitar that you went through the back plate. Any problems with the vinyl staying put there? Also, could not tell if you went through the naca duct up front. Any other problem areas?? Thanks.....Kurt

Just my opinion, I've seen both painted and vinyl stripes and I think the painted stripes look the best. The vinyl stripes I've seen looked very much like an afterthought and seem to lose their "shine" after a period of time. However, the price of the painted stripes is way up there.

Just traded my 94 RT w/white stripes (painted) for a 97 GTS (no stripes). Of course I HAVE to put stripes back on it!!

Please give me your opinions and advantages/disadvantages of both and why. Thanks for your input......Kurt
