hey guys, I just bought my Viper and I have a 1994 RT-10, and I wanted to put on the GTS white stripes. Now I believe there is a kit required that I need to buy so I can take her to a pro vinyl installer. My problem is that I can't find a place to buy the kit from. Now I've seen a few people here who have put on vinyl rather than getting them painted which is what I would prefer. It would be awesome if you could help me out here...
thanks for your time :D

Your in VA? Talk to Mike Baxter, hes the man, and not too far from you.. IMEANSNAKE is his PM address.
Also, I would advise having him install this as well... This IS NOT easy.. At least, if you want a close to PERFECT job. good luck

That I do not know...we have a black SRT vert, no stripes...I was just suggesting FastToo, as I believe he added the vinyl stripes, and he's in your area...good luck! ~juli

If there is a kit with the vinyl already precut buy it and put them on yourself! It isn't as hard as people say it is, at least I don't think so. I put vinyl on my Gen1 and it took me about 5 hours. If you do it yourself you then have the satisfaction that YOU did it and not somebody else...just make sure you have the right "tools" before you start.

:bye:I had the white stripes painted on a 97 GTS I had and it cost me $2000 and they did a perfect job and you could not feel the edges at all. Now this paint and body shop refuses to do that job again for anyone. They said it was way to much work and should have charged more. They took the windows out, part of the front clip off and also part of rear. They put 2 coats of clear over that and it was better then the factory...

Good luck on $500, and I have never seen a Viper stripe kit.

I have been installing graphics on cars for years so with my experience 5 hours may be a little on the low side but regardless, it isn't that hard to do. You get rid of creases with a hair dryer on low to med-low heat and use the heat to form the vinyl around the corners as well.
Set aside some Saturday and tackle it you will be happy you did.:D

Bernie at BJMotors did my stripes and they are absolutely flawless. Even a body shop owner complimented me on how good they were installed.

I beleive Bernie is out your way. I'd call him if I were you.

Take your car to BJ Motors in Crozier VA or Zebra Stripes in Chantilly. I would recommend BJ Motors but both have experience striping Vipers. BJ more so I believe. You don't need to take a kit to either. They have the materials already.

When you say "BJ Motors" does the stripes, does that mean in-house or BJ Motors has someone local that does the stripes?

Stripes belong on a GTS. They DON'T belong on a RT-10.

It's a visual thing that you'll soon see make the car look too narrow from the backside.

Voting against.

I believe Bernie does them "in-house".

Shoot him a PM, he can confirm or correct me if I'm wrong.

:nono:
if anything the stripe width is still too narrow for a car this wide (i'm happy to stick being the only red and black RT over here :)

shame there was no-one like you down round my way! after countless replies from local companies saying they couldn't guarantee decent lines on the curves, i did it myself. with the stripes being black, the few creases right in under some of the bends don't show. i was pretty happy with it, especially as it was done outside the garage and autumn was heading to winter . . . ;)

Stripes on a RT10 look great! Like I said, I put vinyl on mine and I loved it so much that I had the stripes painted on and the car looked freakin' awesome! If you are going to stripe your car, might I suggest silver metallic stripes? Red with silver fits like a glove.

who painted your stripes? How did they do them? i.e. sand whole car or painted over clear? How much did it cost? The only reason I ask is that was just getting ready to have vinyl put on.

I took my (ex)car to Snake Oyl and they in turn took it to a body shop near Milwaukee. This place was awesome and sent me pics as they progressed. After the stripes were laid out on the panels they took off the front and rear fascia, hood, roof and decklid to prevent overspray. They still had to paint the sport bar and the area behind the seats on the car but no big deal. Afterwards they cleared the entire car, twice, and it came out looking amazing! The entire bill was just shy of 3K.

Previous owner put the silver stripes on my 98 GTS. Looked awesome! He said that the stripe kit contained enough vinyl for two cars and I have the left overs.

Baz, I'm doing the same to mine including the Mopar wing. Ever since I saw your before/after pics with the stripes I was hooked. It looks simply amazing. I'm just waiting for the weather to creep over 40 so I can get started soon.
