My 2001 GTS had a SVS shiter in it when I purchased it last year. I haven't had any problems until this past weekend. I started a 2nd gear roll on with a buddy and went to make my 2nd to 3rd shift and the shift lever broke off right in my hand leaving the car stuck in 2nd gear. Has anyone ever had this happen or even heard of something like this happening? Im wondering if this is something that SVS would cover under a warranty or parts guarantee. I have the original invoice for the work from SVS still and the shift kit wasn't cheap. In my opinion a gorilla shouldn't be able to snap one of these things clean off. Especially for the price!

Mike,

What exactly broke and where? Can you benchpress over 800 pounds? :D

It would be nice if you gave me the chance to resolve this matter by contacting me directly. Or if you prefer you can send me a private message and give me your phone # so I may contact you.

Please give us a call at the shop 630-876-1335 or my cell is 630-878-2132

I would like the opportunity to figure out exactly how this happened. You would need to send us ALL the parts so we can determine what exactly happened.

As far as I know, I have never heard of anyone break one of our shifters.

I had a B&M shifter (old style) break, and changed to an SVS shifter that I got (used) from someone on this board. Some timelater, I thought it broke also. When I took the tunnel apart and got to see the shifter, I found that the bolts that hold the top 1/2 of the shifter to the bottom 1/2 had backed out. I put loc-tite on them, and never had another issue.

Hey Mike are you still planning on bringing the shifter to our shop?

I'm anxious to see what happened. If you've been too busy to stop by, I will stop over and pick up what you have since your close.

Did you put the sloppy stock one back in?

I deleted your message and need your #.

Funny. I have broken 2 B&M's in the Viper and 1 B&M in a Vette. They really had a quality issue cuz it aint me bench pressing 800 pounds...

I was told that the shifter broke at the point were the shift handle bolt screws into the shifter arm.

Mike may have an older design shifter. We improved from our original design and I'm not sure yet what style he has. I need to see it. It's been close to 3 years since we worked on the customers Viper that he purchased.

I have raced with our old design shifter since 96. Also have raced many customers Vipers with both designs on racetracks across the country. I have never broke one or heard of any others braking.

We only have these built in short runs. If we had a group purchase we could offer them at a discount.

They work on every year Viper including the SRT's. My feelings are that they have evolved into an almost indestructable working unit.

Here's some pics of the current style SVS Close Ratio Shifter with the solid stainless height adjustment bolts.

Mike,

Do you have this design or the older one? I really would like to hook up with you this weekend so I can examine your shifter. Please call me
