Taylor,
Don't know your route, but be sure to see some of the old Route 66. US 40 from Amarillo TX, through Albuquerque NM, Flagstaf AZ, then the Route 66 loop from Seligman AZ., Truxton AZ., down to Kingman AZ. Seligman is a Route 66 historic paradise, with lots of the old stuff, including cars. The Viper will be right at home, and get LOTS of looks.
Give Jerry a shout about a top. ??

Unless you plan on driving the speed limit, ( I sure can't) then get a good radar detector. I live in Calif. and flew to Denver and bought a Viper last year. Fortunatly I took a detector with me and it sure saved my a-- coming back. Have a great trip.

You might want to take a jacket or towel to fashion a temporary LHS armrest.

Also, do not wear any kind of hitop shoe, stick with ordinary/tennis/running since you will be dancing a ballet with your feet the whole trip.

You might want to have a bug guts strategy. Clear coat is damaged by bug guts. Sad but true.

Make sure you have a black towel to cover up the stuff in the trunk so you don't get glare.

why don't you get a had top that will make the entire round trip. most likely the gts would be easier, but I see what you mean.I 2 would by a rt/10 w/hard top.GTS is fun,but every time you go out in the summer its like you have to put on the a/c at full blast. The rt/10 could be a pain if your in a bright sunny day and then comes a shower.Anyway look at the bright side, people can't choose for you.You have to.

In addition to radar, etc above.....

1) Buy a bikini cockpit car cover, about $89 from PartsRack.

If you are camping,(!!) your car will not fill up with rain, bird poop or bat droppings. Installs in 1 minute.

2) Driving Gloves.

3) Your 96 RT holds 21+ gal...when you fuel gauage reads E you "probably" still gave 5-6 GALLONS left !!

4) RAIN-X

5) Sunglasses / wrap around is best.

6) Eye-wash, eye drops. Trust me.

7) Tire Pressures EVEN and proper

8) A Viper magazine, and VCA badge. If you need help, you have PHONE numbers along your route.....for MEMBERS!

9) a bottle of octane booster inn case you are FORCED to buy non-premium. Then, only buy 5-6-10 gallons to get to real fuel.

Have Fun !! and arrive safe.
