I wanted to publicly say thank you to Randall Arnold and his crew for putting on a spectacular event this past weekend. Well-organized, well-attended, and well-worth the 1.5 hour drive through the typhoon. :)

In addition, a HUGE THANK YOU to Herb Helbig, Dick Winkles, and Ralph Gilles. Herb and Dick have a dumptruck full of knowledge about these rides, and when Ralph comes into the timeline, the info gets funnier (and has sleeker lines...heh heh).
I'm proud to say I stumped Dick with a technical question at the bar later in the evening. :D
And how often do you get to hang out with one of the CEO's from the big three? He's in jeans and sneakers no less! A truly nice guy who's love for amazing rides is glaringly evident.

Thanks also go to Bill White for his assistance with making the event go smoothly, and to Terry Bosserman for continually giving me crap about the truck. :D

Oh, and to whomever picked up my bar tab on Sat. night, THANKS!!!

PICS COMING SOON!

That's VCA President Chris Marshall at the podium.
Also note VCA-OH member SapphireBob eyeing the room for auction items that may match his new SSG. :)

The truck survived the typhoon on the drive to Dayton, and I was asked to park right in front!

How awesome is that? :D

Not sure who that clown on the left is.....

L-R: Me, Ralph Gilles (Dodge CEO), Rachel, Herb Helbig ("The Grailkeeper"), Dick Winkles (Director of SRT; "Mr. V-10").

Rachel picked up this poster at the auction:

Signed by Ralph, Herb, and Dick!
(Yes- I already framed it. :) )

My amazing purchase from the auction: The 1st set of valve covers ever made for the Dodge Ram SRT-10:

(Sorry rcdice! :D)
It was pretty cool for those guys to bring those down from the SRT labs and even cooler that Terry didn't keep bidding on them. LOL
Not sure if they'll go on the truck or not. Maybe for some photo/video later this summer...

Thanks again to everyone for an excellent event with great people!!!

Kevan,

So glad you were able to get those valve covers!!! Thanks for being such a great supporter of VCA Ohio! Now that the party is behind us we can work at getting the Associate Member memberships in place over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I'll have the picture cd from the photographer in a couple of days and I'll get some them posted here and all of them on the Ohio website.

Take care,
Randall

Man I wish I could have been there! :(

Kevan, thanks for the pics for those of us that could not make it! Looks like it was a great event and one that I sad to say I missed!

Also glad you got the covers! Very fitting that they went to you! :)

P.S. Terry giving you crap about your truck eh? Odd for Terry! :rolaugh:

Are none of the Ohio events in the northern part of the state? This stuff is 4-5 hours away from alot of the members up here.

There's lots of stuff at Mid-Ohio (Leslie was throwing out free track time a while back....).

Columbus events:
- Hot Cars- Cool Treats (every couple of weeks during the summer)
- VCA-OH Cruises (throughout the summer)
- Mopar Nationals (August)
- Italian Gathering (September)

If I can get to downtown Cleveland in 2.5 hours, I'm sure you can get down here in less time. :)

Holiday Parties have been moved all over the state. Last year, and several other years was Columbus, two in a row were held before that in Canton, Cleveland, Hueston Woods, Sawmill Creek, Deer Creek etc.

We try to move it around and it never seems to make a lot of difference on the attendance. Columbus is the logical "center" and it still doesn't draw any more or less. The weather seems to be the only predictable influence on attendance, as we have had some really bad ice and snow events with only one event ever cancelled and re-scheduled.
