Are Dodges!
I think Chrysler and Cerebus missed out on an excellent opportunity by not advertising Dodges aggressive line up of cars during the Super Bowl. All we got was the first commercial..and awd Audi R8, and then tons of Ford commericials after. Face it Ford, you make cars no one wants to buy. Ford has the Mustang and the F-150 truck. Everything else looks like a cheap attempt to make cars for a space movie.

The Dodge line up of Chargers, Dodge Rams, upcoming Challenger, and the fastest most powerful America sports car ever made, our beloved Viper...would have won over the die hard football fans if we simply could have had 60 seconds to show the world what Dodge has been up to. I personally think Dodge cars have uniqueness and character, Ford is on its death bed, and GM still has some passion..but were also absent during the Super Bowl. Instead we were treated w/ ads of guys attaching jumper cables to their ****. The world would definitely have preferred seeing the 08 Viper kick the snot out of the $140,000 Porsche TT and the $350,000 Lambo LP640 in the 1/4 mile!:headbang:
I personally think Dodge has the most unique, sexiest, and most powerful cars out there that Americans would drool over....but nobody knows about them except Dodge fans. And the reason is b/c of missed opportunities like the Super Bowl.

Unique and powerful, perhaps. But ****? Maybe the upcoming Challenger, but Chrysler hasn't had anything **** since the gen2.

At 2.7 million for a 30 second spot I suspect that's a large chunk of the ad budget they'd rather spread out in other markets, use for race teams, etc.

It would have been cool though to see some Viper actually eat a mustang :eater::eater:

Audi advertised the R8, Porsche advertises their GT2, and GM adverstises the Vette. Have any of you guys ever seen a Viper doing aggressive driving in a Dodge commercial?

I think the Charger and the all generation of Vipers are really ****!

I have to agree. Unfortunately, the days of Chrysler being a design leader peaked in the 90's. IMHO, Caliber, Nitro, Compass are examples of what not to do.

I agree on those baseline models. But I tell you Hemi Charged Charger and Chrylser 300's are home runs. I see several of these cars across CT. Chevy is putting millions into advertising the plane looking Malibu, Ford is pushing the nauseating Edge...both of those cars pale in design to the Charger and the upcoming Challenger.

Even the Dodge Ram truck makes me drool every time I see it. My Avalanche is more functional, but I continue to try to find an excuse to buy a Ram Truck.

Also, many people have no idea what I am driving when they see my Viper. And most people think the cars cost over $150,000; but the biggest issue is that most of the public have NO IDEA of what the Viper is capable of performance-wise. Super exotic cars like the Lambos and Ferraris do not need to advertise. But Vipers, Vettes, and Porsches do.

All it would take is a 30 second blurb showing a Viper kicking the snot out of the Lambo LP 640 and the Ferrari F430, and yes, the Z06 from 60-150...and outhandling all of them all on a road course...and Viper would be a new icon world wide.:headbang:
Yes, exoticness is good, but w/ Cerebus flirting w/ strangling off the snake, some good publicity would go a long way.

I totally agree, but don't show it during the way over priced Stupid Bowl (although it was awesome). Any company that advertises during the game is fiscally irresponsible IMHO and I refuse to buy any of their products.

A good commercial would be linking the GenII ACR to the GenIV ACR. Something like a black screen with the Viper red lettering that say (and the only sound is that of a heart beat, IT WAS. Then the sound of the heart stops and you hear the sound of a viper tearing around a in a drift tail hanging out and pulling away. Then fade to Black Red lettering again, IT IS BACK (and you hear it as well in that demonic child’s voice from that horror movie) Then it flashes to the new ACR (the song from God Smack comes on the same one the Navy used) Then you see the new ACR doing the same thing only faster without the tail hanging out. Then a few more shots of it doing some crazy burnouts and pulling ******* some C6Z06, 911GT2 and F430. Maybe a few more shots of them racing around a track. Then the dodge guy announcer comes on and says “America’s World ****** Sports car has arrived….your welcome.”

The Gen 2 is curvier, the Gen 3 more aggressive, more menacing. Women find aggressive and menacing to be ****, but curvy is **** too. I love both the Gen 2 coupe and the Gen 3 and Gen 4. Not too fond of the Gen 1 convt.

I would buy a Gen 2 in a heartbeat, but I have read that the Gen 3's are simply better in every area performance-wise..but on looks, I like them both. It comes down to a matter of taste obviously.

I think Dodge takes risks w/ styling, risks that pay off. I think the Hemi Dodge Charger is the meanest passenger car on the road, in triple black or bumble bee yellow. What kind of edgy passenger cars does Ford and GM have? Cadillac has done an excellent job of design and ADVERTISING! Pontiacs are kinda edgy, but rather dated in my view.

Chrysler actually ran some ads- it was the cartoon one with the kid wandering around some dealership or something. Not very memorable obviously:rolleyes:

Cerebus reminds me of those in my business that are no longer around. When u are losing money...YOU ADVERSTISE MORE (take it from Ford). I still say a Viper commercial raising hell would have connected to many red blooded football fans and would have people coming into Dodge dealerships this week to see what the hell kind of car is capable of that!

Dodge does not need to advertise their limited production line up like Viper and Challenger. They need to advertise the cars that most people need and want to buy. Just look at the what cars are selling and making profits these days. People want fuel efficient, reasonably priced cars that have good repair records. The problem is that Dodge has no cars to advertise that meet these criteria with the exception of the Caliber. :dunno:

Wow. I simply have to disagree. Americans are about splurging. Mercedes Benz and BMW are doing extremely well. They are expensive and pale in comparison to quality control vs the Hondas and Toyotas but sell many many cars. B/c we have so much, Americans tend to buy cars (at least one car) based on passion, not purpose. Bentley is doing well, but my Bentley is in the shop once every 4 months for this or that.

When you create passion amongst Americans there is nothing we will not, and cannot do. And buying cars that connect to that passion is what many of us live for!:headbang:

Why do you view and comment on the Gen 3 site if you don't like the 500 HP and up generation?

Styling is a matter of taste. The Gen 3 is the first to offer a full convertible, and like it or not, not everyone is thrilled with the styling of the earlier Vipers. I don't go on the other sites and make negative comments about them.

I don't see other Gen 3 owners putting down the older generation cars either.

Sorry, but I can't agree with this one. I think the number of people who purchase a car out of necessity in America vastly outnumbers the people who buy them based on passion.

Funny thing here is you are right; the number of people who buy out of necessity vastly outnumber the number who buy on passion. However, Mercedes Benz and BMW are having record years and those cars are not bought out of necessity.

I think it's a good thing that Vipers are not overly advertised (or barely advertised). That is one thing that makes them the mysterious beasts that they are, which is one cool aspect of owning one...the fact that people are unfamiliar with them and in awe when they see them. If they were mass produced and over advertised like Vettes they wouldn't draw as much attraction and appreciation.

I like it when I'm at a gas station or at a show, someone always comes up to the viper quickly says" I have never seen one up close" with a gleem in their eyes and they start the list of questions running thru thier minds "whats it like........what does...........and how does it.......... etc.

I've got to split the hair about the line-up being ****. I don't think any of the current Chrysler vehciles are ****. What they ARE is more aggressive in their styling than the wimpy soft lines and drivetrains everywhere else. I wouldn't mind a Jeep SRT8 for a daily. That's about it. I love my old Ram, but I hope they've been putting better transmissions in them. I've heard the automatics are still weak unless you have a diesel.

Even the G3/4 Vipers.... until the '08 coupes came out and better colors were introduced with it, I thought they were total ****. I know I just put a chasm between me and most G3/4 owners, but more refined or not... the style never appealed to me. So thank God for whoever was inspired to produce the changes found in the 2008 and brought some new character to the machine.

I always thought the best cars no one knows about were the old DeTomaso Panteras. :eater:

Again, I agree w/ the mysticism component. But Viper is supposed to be a Halo vehicle and is under threat of cancellation. We cannot have stealth existence and profitablity at the same time. While it is cool, it is also the reason Viper may be on borrowed time.:(

I agree w/ you totally on the Panteras! I test drove a green one a while back..wow! All the loud carbeurated power behind my head!

I disagree w/ everything else in your thread. I think the Gen 2 coupe is in a class all by itself. Very aggressive, nice styling, unique lines, etc.

The Gen 3 went in a different direction, but equally as effective in my view. The performance :drive:of the Gen 3 also adds to its attractive value. But really, all this boils down to personal taste.

My favorite Gen. Viper is the one that I see at that moment. Give me a Gen 1 with zipper windows and all, and I'd be happy as hell. It's the true throw back to the 60's. I like the vert. b/c it fits my style, but when I see a Gen 2 or 3, coupe I start to drool. (Solution, removable hardtop). The point is that the viper is a hell of a car. Showing off its greatness in commercials can bring people to the dealerships to check out the other products in the line-up.

So a Gen 2 is like a Supermodel that can give you a really good go around, while a Gen 3 is more like a smokin' hot **** that can really blow your doors off:lmao:

eYeah, Gen 1's are classic. Whenever I am at Tators he usually has two or three Gen 3's in there, but I find myself in the back of his shop mostly idolizing his totally stock 94 red Vert. It is classic, and very gd fast on the road course!
