From today's Automotive News;

According to one person who attended the dealer meeting, the 2012 Viper concept resembled the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione with a Viper face. The Competizione is a limited-edition supercar that was sold in select Maserati dealerships in North America

Not really feeling that car. Hopefully they will come to their senses and make it better looking than that. JMO

I don't hate the look of the alfa . With Viper queues it might look ok . I'm dieing in anticipation to see the new one . I hope it looks a lot more aggresive then the alfa does .

If this is what it looks like,i hope it is never built. It would tarnish the Viper personna imho. I think the original Vipers should be the basis for any Viper to follow. Sure, add some nice features but keep it a Viper. Sometime you have to look back to go forward.

Wow... The 2012 Viper Bubble burst pretty quick... Hence the V8 Rumors... It's a nice car but it's $230k and the performance numbers are not quite Gen2 from what I read.

What a difference a day makes...

I looked again at the Automotive News article this morning and also saw the same from their affiliate Autoweek, thanks Ralph for the next generation and continuation of Viper!

Chrysler introduced the 2012 Viper and the pickup truck concept with a touch of drama. At the end of his hour-long speech to dealers, Marchionne closed with a story.

“There are times when you are given the opportunity to give life to something which is so beautiful and unique, so just and equitable, that you pay a lot less attention to the numbers, to the financial reality that surrounds it. They happen only rarely. In my case, three times in more than 15 years as chief executive.”

He recounted a series of conversations he had had with Ralph Gilles, Dodge CEO and chief of design for all Chrysler brands.

“We had been debating this particular nameplate for a long time, and every time I just could not get there. And then one morning the product committee went into the dome and saw it, and we all knew we were in front of something magic, unique. It took less than five minutes for the committee to fund the initiative. Not a negative comment, not a remark, not a single question. And so I leave you with this. The 17th car in the lineup, in select dealers in 2012.”

And the Viper emerged from the wings.

Seems to me the picture of the proposed "2012 Viper" is a photoshop version of the Alfa Romeo 8C Coupe.

Ferrari inspired headlights and Viper inspired hood is what I see.

If this is the real thing, then I would have to assume "Shared Platform", something that was mentioned in the past a time or two.

All speculation at this point!

Until Bill Pemberton tells me Woodhouse is taking orders and gives me a firm delivery date, I will not lose any sleep over a 2012, 2013 or 2014 Viper.

Maybe rumors could be put to rest during VOI 11, who knows?

Explaining Viper things to you
Me and Ralph test drove the new 9-speed V8 Viper today and stopped by Woodhouse with some breakfast burritos from Burger King. Road and Track was there but when they found out this had already been reported by them they just left without even getting their equipment out. They did say though that they couldn't believe no one was ordering them.

In other news, Jaguar, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo sales remain solid as forecast through 2012.

Just a lot of speculation here. I am suprised everyone is getting all spun oup over rumors. Its going to be a while before the actual car comes out... if it ever does. I would hold off until we get closer before GUESSING what it is going to look like.

So true, but also entertaining to speculate.

I would suggest to our VCA website comittee that it may be time to add a GEN V section, so that those that want to "dream" can do so without boring those that would rather wait until the real thing arrives.

I remember a lot of members being very pessimistic over rumors prior to the Gen 3 Coupe as well as the Gen 4 . Lets be optimistic the rumors that the Viper nation will stay strong and continue . How many have said that the Gen V needs to change . Along with the government mandates that we know it HAS to change . Not everyone is going to be excited about what ever the change is . It took me a bit for the Gen 3/4 coupe to grow on me but now I personally don't care to go back to the GTS . Unless money was no object for me . I'm sure what ever the Gen V does end up looking like . It will be one hell of a product . As have all previous years .
