I'm out in the garage messing around. Late afternoon sun beating down. I wanted a pic of the car on stands and here it is. Looks sunny in the garage doesn't it?

See the wheels and tires in the corner?

Anyway, I start smelling rubber burning like you're holding a propane torch up against something made of rubber. I mean a strong smell. I check the house real quick as the washer is running right inside. No smell. Spin around and see the tire smoldering from the sun.

***?

The sun then started burning my leg when I was standing there trying to ***** the tire out.

***?

Dave, did you track down where the magnified light was comming from? Its a good thing it was a tire instead of a plastic gas can.
That is a great pic to photo shop some big mud tires on the snake :rolaugh:

That's scary. Good thing those bad boys are coming off, and it's a REALLY good thing the sun didn't do that to your significantly more expensive new tires!

I'm sure you have better ways to "burn rubber"!

Did you get a magnification effect from the reflection of the wheels? Glad you didn't end up with a fire!

Maybe we can talk him into a DIY on how to have fun with your old tires.

Yeah, it is kind of scary. I have no idea what was making the rays do that. Maybe my freshly washed truck? :dunno:

Regardless, that was the "freebie" front tire from Discount Tire after the lane divider bump episode. Basically still brand new. Basically headed for ebay. Basically like now a brand new tire with a "story." :(

Sooooooooo, Leslie, wanna see me make smores? :firedev:

:

So, that way I figgures it, is Discount Tire sells (well, gives) you a "freebie" to get your business, while meanwhile the tire actually is a fake with a selfdistruct date. That way you need to go back and buy 1 more tire!

What an amazing marketing plan!;) They never actually gave you a freebie!

DO YOU HAVE A BETTER EXPLANATION!!!:eater:

WATCH where you place those 4 parabolic mirrors that you likely call "rims" or "wheels"...as, since their appearance in 1999, they have a well documented history of causing plastic tool boxes to smoulder, one guy's sock to smoulder, and at lease one case of grass/leaves starting to smoke.

Remember the 1996 GTS's that had holes burned in the rear of both headrests when the sun came thru the rear hatch glass at just the right angle???

"Snakes" have a whole bag of tricks!! :)

Interesting analysis there Steve. It was actually the 2nd tire back as seen in the first pic. The tire in front that was making filming toward a bright light challenging was kind of aimed toward my truck in it's "gonna be sunny all week" clean and shininess.

Who knows how many mirrors were involved.

Anybody need a slightly used tire? :D

Really, it's for sale. I got new stuff.

All - - smoking - - offers will be considered :lmao:

Hey Dave,
Not trying to say that your stripes are slanted but check out the lower right stripe in the picture, hope they are decals fo an easy fix or is it just the angle of the picture?

If you would put the damn tires on the car and the car on the ground ever now and then, the tires would be in shade.:dunno::D

Dave,
I noticed this also Saturday when I was following you around Austin. I just figured it was the curve of the lower bumper.:dunno:
