2011 Mid South Viper experience
Ok everyone we are getting close to the third annual (Southern) Mid South Viper experience. We are kicking off this year in New Orleans (don’t worry we have secure self park garage parking to look after our pride and joy right under our hotel) This is the same parking as last year and all worked well.
We have rooms at the historical Royal Sonesta and the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel. ( all viper parking will be at the Royal Sonesta like last year secure underground garage)
Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans - New Orleans, LA - French Quarter hotel
Crowne Plaza Hotel NEW ORLEANS Hotels | NEW ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER | Welcome
Friday, March 25th will kick off the event experience down in New Orleans. The Hotels are right on the world famous Bourbon Street. Check in can be as early as 3:00 or as late as you like (the sightseeing on Bourbon an last most of the night)
The hosts will be keeping, once again the hurricane drink machines ready (Dolph, I am sure had a hand in these )
You will have your choice of several New Orleans famous restaurants to pick from Friday night and then people watching the rest of the night from one of our balcony rooms that we have reserved just for bead throwing.
Saturday will start off the morning at Cafe Du Monde ( just a few blocks away) for coffee and beignets (French doughnuts with powdered sugar) for anyone that wants to get up early or breakfast at the hotel for the ones that want to sleep a little extra.
Cafe Du Monde
Saturday after breakfast we will have out photo opp right on Bourbon Street. Not too many Viper groups can get this opportunity.
Right after the photo opp we will head on out passing right by the popular Jackson Square on our way to the Superdome for a behind the scenes tour and a one of a kind New Orleans photo opp in front of the Dome.
Note: Anyone that does not make it in Friday and would just like to meet us at the Dome Saturday morning for the tour/photo and then on the drive are more than welcome too.
After the Dome tour we will be cursing down the freshly paved highway running right along the gulf coast. This run has a great view of the clear gulf waters. About a 1:45 hour run to Biloxi Mississippi to break at the Hard Rock casino, with reserved parking, to grab lunch (and maybe lose a few quarters in a slot machine)
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi, MS
After lunch ( and a few quarters later) we will head back to New Orleans and park in our secure parking. Everyone can relax for a couple of hours before dinner at Dickie Brenan’s for a great meal.
You can also relax pool side and rest up for another night in the balcony room out on Bourbon Street.
Everyone can have another great taste of New Orleans at Pat O’Briens for your souvenir Hurricane glass (and more importantly the drink that comes with it).
Pat O'Briens
The balcony room will be open again for us for more people watching and bead throwing.
That will finish out the weekend of the 2011 (Southern) Mid South Viper run. This will be a great event to remember so for those of you who have not notified us please send Tim or myself an email if you can make it right away so we can give the hotels and the Superdome a head count.
FAQ’s:
Is there a fee or will everyone go “Dutch”? We have done Dutch the last two years and seemed to work well, so Dutch it is.
What are the room rates? Well, they are proud of them. Last year we paid right $215 per night and this year they are getting $249 per night at the Sonesta and Crown Plaza is $208 for Friday and $179 for Saturday. We do need to get at least 5 rooms at the Sonesta to make the parking work.
How many rooms at each hotel are reserved? I only have a total of ten right now between the two hotels but all are double beds in case anyone wants room together.
When will the rooms be released to the public? I have these reserved on my CC under my name now but I would like to get names and a head count as soon as we can so we can get everyone that’s wants to attend assigned to a room.
Feel free to call or email me if anyone has any questions.
