had to call out Baz on a emergency call, to perform some surgery after the waterpump had failed (a known fault on 00/01 cars, the impella was spinning on the shaft not pushing the water around as it should so the engine would overheat making it un-driveable)

like any apprentice his work was methodically checked by his master over in the
States, who phoned a few times to check on his young apprentice's workmanship even though with the time difference the rest of the US was still asleep :usa:

while the coolant was out, Baz also swapped the factory 195 degree thermosat for a 180.
Needless to say, my GTS is back to full health, cheers to Baz and 'The Wizard' once again for sending over the parts and valuable advice, by email and phone :2tu:

more work planned today to test the humble apprentice, as he tackles a few more Viper tasks...
Baz has worked on nearly every UK members viper over here, using Chuck as his guru and OE parts supplier

day two was slightly more interesting experience for me at least! using a friends race team garage to get my mates GTS on the ramps for a full monty service, diff and gearbox fluid change, fuel filter, oil and filter change, plugs and leads, new drive belt, coolant and brake fluid change, so much easier on a nice set of new ramps, Baz did a great job as with all this spanner-time he really getting the hang of it :)

as usual all parts supplied by 'The Wizard'

the team are off to N'ring in March to test the yellow Porsche prepped specially for that track where it will compete all this season, they also ran 21 Caterhams in a one make series last year which travels around all the UK circuits

Do you have to remove the hood for a water pump, or should I say does it make it that much easier that it is worth the effort of removing the hood?

yes recommended by Chuck there's only x4 nuts holding the hood on, a simple job to get it out of the way to make the work much easier from the front of the car and save your back, Baz and i managed it on/off no probs

there isnt any alignmwnt issues afterwards, as there isnt any adjustment on the x4 bolts that holds it

Glad to see your car back on the road.
Congrats to Baz and the Wizard for the help. :2tu:

Its nice to have a healthy car again JiPi, been no rush though as the weathers just getting better, it had been broke since november after a dyno session

Taking the hood of makes it loads easier to do the water pump..And as Neil said 10 min job The hood that is.............
