Is it just me? Or does it seem like there's a deluge of new posters (under 100 posts) that have been having sudden "revelations" about how good the Z06 is?

To paraphrase: "I mean, I LOVE the Viper, but I think I might get the Z06 instead because it's performance that matters." "I hate how the gen1-2 hate on the gen3. We should not be like that when we talk about Z06." and my favorite, "I just saw/rode the Z06... now I might consider getting one over the Viper.... not YET, but maybe."

They sound genuine and a little TOO levelheaded. Guerilla marketing tactics are cheap and seek to be effective. Call it psychological warfare. It doesn't even have to be company sponsored. Just devious employees, vette lover-trolls, or over-zealous marketing people planting thoughts of doubt in our affinity for the Viper, and trying to divide and conquer the base.

Sure there are Viper vets here that can respect the Z06, and ridicule DC's pathetic efforts. But this coming steadily from newbs seem a bit odd to me. Just my 2¢.

It has always been and will always be nothing more than a dime a dozen Corvette! Every street corner will have one and every 60 year old grocery getting lady will drive one as they have in the past. I dont care what anyone says, seeing a Viper on the street is still a rare occasion and still commands everyones attention around you. I dont hate Vettes themselves, i hate that there are millions of them and anyone can buy one!

Whatever happens on the other side of the force, I will still be on the dark side, even of the "mods" are mandatory to keep our snake ahead of the crowd... ;)

I'm sure I would love a Z06, but there is no way I'm getting rid of my GTS to do it. (And I'm not a DC propaganda plant)

Wouldn't think ur a DC propaganda plant.... you haven't nudged or winked at us yet! :D

I think the association between low post counts and tendency to be swayed by marketing speaks for itself...it's not as sinister as you think, these are the Viper owners and enthusiasts who are just not that committed to begin with. Think about it.

My tin foil helmet has prevented any ZO6 thoughts from intruding into my brain. Put one on, and you too will be safe.

I'm a manager at a Chevy store and we have 1 2005 Z06 allocated, after that they are 2006 models...Of the 25 or 30 C6's we've sold 98% of the buyers we're guys 55+ in age that drive like, well...um, like they're 55. If you add that to the price of entry (I know we're putting a $10k LOA bump from MSRP...I'm against that btw) of about $75k-80k and you will probably have better odds of running into another viper than a Z06...at least in the not-so-distant future.

I autocross and track my GTS, that's why I bought her. I have Z06's and super modified Civics wax my ass all the time. But my GTS is always the star, always the car every other AX driver begs for a ride in during the practice runs. The tech inspectors joke that they "might need to drive it to make sure its OK". Last SCCA event it was me against 8 Z06's in SS class. No I was not 1st but I was the car to beat. On an open track I eat 'em.

X vetter: What continually gets me is the reference towards 55+ owners. Start coming to the V10 Nationals, Viper Days and the VRL, hell, come to Dayton/Cincinnati area and we will show you quite a few 55+ that will try to out run you no matter what you bring to the party. We may be older but we have been driving these things longer and love them just as much as any youngster. Yes more older Corvette owners putt along but don't bunch us muscle car lovers into the same catagory.
RANT OVER.

Vipr GTS : notice my comment said in my area..FL is the retirement state...and second I would never make a reference about age in regards to driving/owning a viper...WE the collective viper owners are all in a class by ourselves and thats what makes US unique :2tu:

Not to change the subject, but if you are 55, can you drive 55?
