A day after I win the car show, I see in a local paper they call my Viper a Crapvette! Here's is a clip.


"Motorheads could find all types of cars there, from a sleek, blue 1997 Corvette with its hood popped and engine purring inside a circle of onlookers to a wood-framed, 1927 Ford coach. "

I'm suing for no less than $1,000,000 defamation lawsuit!
And a reprint with a picture of me next to my viper with my trophy!

GAWD, that would ****. You just get the car, take it to a show, and they can't tell it apart from the probably 80 corvettes that were at the same show ? Think of it this way, it could have been an intentional slam, maybe the writer hates Dodge, or his bowtie is a little too tight.

WOW - These responses are suprising to me. I get this response all the time from people. I was out driving my car on Fathers day, and was asked if my car was a Corvette - TWICE. Maybe it is just an IL thing.

Even they think it's a Vette when they see it coming at them.

Actually, I had an old guy thinking my 97 gts was a vette.. a "new" vette that looked better than the last one they had. I had to correct him, but I think one thing is clear, the Viper has a distinct American-ness about it, and people who don't know much about cars default it to the only one they know... a vette. All in all... it's not bad considering it doesn't get mistaken for a Hyundai or something.

He means the generic Corvette. Like kleenex, scotchtape or frigidaire. It means any expensive, impractical car that a "normal" person would never own.

Just in case you aren't kidding,
the Corvette wave is the tradition that Corvette people have of giving a little wave when they see another Corvette on the road.
I believe it may be a holdover from the days when all sports cars waved at each other. The days of TR-3 and MGA.

I do know that the Corvette people have been doing it since at least the late 1950s.

And today, more than a few wave at me in my Viper.
I'm sure they think it's a Corvette as they see it coming down the road at them.
