This motor Hesitation is P!ssing me off!!! Help!

i found more info about the hesitation i think.....i turned it on today for like 10 minutes till it started to hesitate like 5 minutes into it. I didn't drive it. I wanted to see if the hesitation went away, but it seemed to get worse. I drove the car a few feet and it wanted to stall on me and it almost did. I took it on the road flew up and down the road at around 35mph and the hesitation stopped.

This has been happening since like 5 days after I bought the car. It must be something stupid. I heard everything from Spark Plugs, Injectors, O2 Sensors, TPS, Cold Air Sensor, Intake Manifold Gasket and Cold Weather. I tried everything but the Air Sensor. Does anyone else have any input?

Just remember, it happens until I Drive the car vigoursly for about 10 seconds. Then it goes away until I turn her off and let her sit for 10 minutes. THen same thing.

Did you ever get the battery checked? A low battery/battery going bad can cause those symptoms. Load test it.

Nope, but I will do that today. I'll take her to Advanced Auto and they can test it. I do know the car is running really rich, but I know all of them do. Can it somehow be flooding itself out till I really get on the gas and let the fuel pass through?

I have never had that problem, but I would suggest visiting a viper tech who can do a diagnostic check. Guessing and replacing parts hasn't worked thus far and is costing you more than the diag would have. In short, take the car to someone who knows what they are doing and is familiar with the dynamics of that car. Keep us posted with your findings...

Had similar troubles and it is still going on but the situation is getting much better.
However to have an accurate diagnostique you need either a logging software (like Vec2) or a scan tool.

Or without any of these tools ride your car and check your plugs however you will not be able to fix much.

In my case:
- I changed upstream oxygen sensors (helped a little)
- Fine tuned injector offset (Helped a lot)

Or without any of these tools ride your car and read your plugs (if you can).

In my case
- I changed upstream oxygen sensors (helped a little)
- Fine tuned injector offset (Helped a lot)
- Checked/cleaned idle motor (Didn't help)
- Keep in mind that 90% of these idle troubles come from PCM
- My PCM should be reprogrammed to run 50rpm higher
- At present I am looking on sparc plugs to change heat range

Check the vacuum line to your MAP sensor. Mine idled rough and would almost stall when coming to a stop. I found a kink in my vacuum line and once fixed, all was good.

My friend owns a SNap-On franchise and he has an $8,000 computer to diagnose this stuff. About 2 weeks ago we hooked up the $3000 computer but he was in a hurry. I think he said about a sensor reading -50 degrees and that is why it is calling for so much fuel. I dunno.

Hmm...with that mind boggling fix, if that doesn't work..change out the engine. Do it the Mikey way! Replace everything until it gos away! LOL!

Are you sure you have factory plugs in your car. Have you pulled one out and looked at it? Is it full of carbon? If so...might be fuel/ timing related issues....but spark plugs can tell you a lot on what's going on.

He might be talking about the IAT (intake Air Temp Sensor) but in your original post you said you already changed it out, referring to it as Cold Air Sensor. Easy enough to check with a scanner.

When I was looking into the car you now own the complete intake was off the engine for some reason. I don't know if a gasket leak could be your problem or not.

Do not overlook the cam and crank sensors or coil packs. Did you try turning on the AC when it misfires ?

Just take your Viper to Chuck Tator and stop batting your head against a wall already. Flatbed it if you have to.

The car drives fine after I pull her hard for a tenth of a mile. I took out like 3 or 4 plugs and they were all black. I called Chuck a while ago and he said it was the plugs. Should I just change all the plugs? I can't see it doing hard as long as I gap them right. What is the correct gap and what plugs should I get? Thanks. I was told to get Champion White Tag plug number .035 stock.

I did change 1 O2 sensor because the car was flashing me the Check Engine light. I used my ODBII reader and it said it was that. The light never came on again. Should I change my other O2? The one I changed was the one on the driver's side. I never changed the IAT yet. I was told that could be it.

When did you look at the car? The intake was off because the old one had the Nitrous Express setup on it and someone came over to the garage before I bought it and they exchanged intake manifolds.

Sorry, I see that now that I read the post more carefully. You can verify your friend's temp results with your scanner by monitoring the air temp. Anything with a minus is definitely not good if it's above minus temps in actuality.

I found a sensor attached to the back of the air box right behind the passenger side of the car. Is that this IAT?
