Wondering how much power you make and how do you like the car before and after the install? I owned a Vortech supercharged cobra before and loved it. Any issues?

We have installed a couple hundred on Vipers and Viper trucks over the years and have had nothing but positive reports from our customers, drives like factory until you put your foot in it.

What negative reports have you had out of the "couple of hundred'.

I am sure there was some otherwise the sky is falling chicken little. I am interested in a Paxton as well in the near future but also are interested in some of the "negatives" involved in this build. Anything that usualy or,does go wrong over stock factory reliablity. Like I said, there must be some if not alot.

The 3rd one we ever did on a Gen3 had a blower seal fail, Paxton overnighted a new head unit and waited for us to swap out and return the bad one. Other then that we have never had complaint or "knock on wood" a failure. We do not do anything but tweak the Paxton tune and we don't deviate from the standard kit so we are not technically a "tuner" looking for big numbers. We send out reliable 720+hp cars that can be driven anywhere.

You may find some complaints out there, but I would be willing to bet they are custom tuned to the max cars, generally though the Paxton systems are trouble free.

I love mine. My car is a heads/cam car with a paxton. IMO I dont like the way Paxton Vipers feel when the motor is stock, feel like a stock car till you get way up in the RPM band. I would recomend doing heads/cam/headers first, then adding the paxton.

My car made 612 rwhp heads/cam and 909 rwhp heads/cam/paxton.

One of the main drawback is the big a$$ smile that you have on you face:), less fuel milage and rear tire wear, but if you are driving a Viper you don't care too much 'bout that, now do we.

Paxton is the same company as Vortex. Same systems.

Paxton is a fantastic addition for Vipers. If you just install the Paxton as supplied they are almost bulletproof, and the V-10 responds very well.

At low revs, you hardly notice anything different and they drive like a pussycat. As the revs build, the power ramps up quickly, and suddenly you have a tiger by the tail.

Most complaints are from people that want instant power whenever they put their foot down. They want to break the tires free from just off idle. For them, other types of superchargers are available.

Most reliability issues come from people that tweak the Paxton for even more power. If you put on a smaller pulley, reliability goes way down, unless you build up your engine components.

Only maintenance issue is too change your oil a bit more often, and plan to replace rear tires a bit sooner :>)

How well does a supercharger do on a track day....pros and cons of running a supercharged car on the track every now and then over a stock car or supercharged heads cam car ?

What kind of pulley options are there for the paxton? I forgot what is the compression ratio on our cars again?
9.5.1 compression stock, 2000-02 come with 5 psI pulleys as they have cast pistons, 96-99 come with 8 with the option of 10 at extra cost , you must have A real fuel system if you are going 10 or over, ditching the Paxton flu as well

If you want a Paxton for track duties, you have lots of issues to consider.

First is getting rid of heat. As the heat builds up the power goes down. Every lap has different power outputs which makes it difficult to drive consistantly.

In addition the Paxton builds speed so fast, the brakes have a hard time keeping up with the additional demands of slowing down from much higher speeds.

Throttle control is an issue, as even though you are backing off the throttle, the supercharger can still be building boost, and the car still accelerating.

Also the Paxton tends to overcome the tires at high boost levels, so stickier tires are also needed.

Overall a good heads and cam package with better throttle control tends to work better at most tracks than superchargers for Vipers looking to lay down the best times.

877 here with a built 510.....soon to have new numbers as we are going from split second with supplemental injectors to AEM, new fuel rails piping etc. and a shot of giggle juice.

Only one complaint after my Paxton Novi 2500 install, the RAPID rear tire wear when you STAND on the throttle :headbang: Pure bliss!

What are you guys doing to manage the heat generated by the addition of the Paxton? My Gen 1 motor with a Gen 2 cooling system upgrade can overheat when I'm driving aggressively in ambients over about 85 degrees.

For a Gen2, the 2000 unit is recommended. The 2500 takes longer to generate boost due to the larger compressor wheel... unless you're looking to make over 750RWHP

When you say 'heads' I wonder what actual head work you mean. N/A headwork (i.e, before you go down the forced induction route) normally increases the compression - not good for a S/C set-up!

I need to lower my compression at some point (slightly raised above standard right now due to previous head work by Valaya Racing).

How much extra is it to upgrade from the 2000 to a 2500?

If memory serves correct I believe it was $400.00 bump which included the fully polished head unit. Well worth the extra $$$ as you now have more HP options depending on your ultimate goal.
