Tire Blowout

driving on highway yesterday at about 80-90mph, all of a sudden right rear tire literally came off rim, i was able to control vehicle and stop on shoulder, tire was half off rim? any ideas as to what would have caused this? i put new tire on immediately, now im concerned about the rim, it looks fine but could it have suffered damage?

Anything is possible. The best time to have it inspected is when the tire is off. If there are no punctures or separations, most likely what happened is that you ran real low on the air pressure without knowing it.

If I didn't know what I was looking for, I would take it to a tire shop and have them break it down and inspect the wheel.
