OK I'm in getting snow tires for my sons car and I ask the guy how much is it going to cost me for a set of pilots for the back of my 99 gts. He quotes me $679 each plus tax!!! that comes to $1548.12 for the set.

So I guess I'm looking at the best part of $3000 for a new set of 4.

He then quoted me $529 for some BF goodrich tires. Is this what we are paying up here in the great white north for Viper rubber???

I don't consider myself cheap by any strtch of the imagination, but $679 did take me by surprise...lol

To quote Johnny Rotten: "Ever feel like you've been ripped off?"

That store is hos(er)ing you big time. Look around, Tire Craft here in Calgary quoted me under a thou for a rear pair (fronts are quite a bit cheaper than rears, too), installed and balanced, tire recycle fee, GST et all.
I'd like to try tire rack but not sure about shipping, duty etc.

My advice take your (and your son's) business elsewhere. They obviously don't appreciate it at all.

Whereabouts in Ontario? Time to make a run for the border, no.. not for Tacos.

:usa:

I used to live in Windsor. It was quite common to support the US industry. :D

I'm in Courtice...about 1 hour east of Toronto. And when the time comes, I'll have no problem going for a little drive into the USA and having some new rubber installed...lol

DO NOT GO TO TIRE RACK!!!!! Come on guys, give or take a few bucks JonB at Partsrack is the same friggin price. We need to support the guys that support this site and its members. Just remember if you ever smack up your viper and you get the shaft from the insurance company who is going to bail your @ss out. Tire Rack? Yeah right. But JonB will substantiate your claims and get you what you need. So Tire Rack can kiss my butt and my business will go to Partsrack. Period. Just like I support my local Dodge dealer rather than the local discount parts dealer. Where would we be without these guys?

Gerald, I'll start by apologizing, but Tire Rack sponsors a complete forum here and have banner/button ads? They won't have the detailed know-how JonB does, but it's still support.

Oppps. I thought TireRack was not a sponsor. I stand corrected. Sorry about that. I'm all for supporting anyone that supports us.

Tom, Gerald, Chuck, et al: PLEASE READ:

-PartsRack will always be $40-$50 / set below TireRack's already great prices.

-That said, the MAJORITY of the time LUKE at TireRack processes the order for us!

-WE ALL WIN: YOU SAVE w/Great Service; PartsRack and Luke at TireRackTriple-Whammy! Ask Luke! Ask Chuck. Ask ANY of our tire customers or SEARCH HERE.

-Canadian and International buyers already know we can be "creative" with invoicing.

To continue our SUPPORT, we need and appreciate your BUSINESS. Thank You.

Jon, do you have any interest in taking orders for our daily drivers too? No tech help obviously, but if I know what I want would you order it?

Absolutely....... we dont have margins on $100 SOB Tires (for example) to be able to save you $50 like we can on Vipers, but Id be glad to split my wholesale-deal with you.
Thanks for asking ! "If you know what you want" is the key here.....
