Scott:
From what I understand, the answer to your question about blower kits for Vipers is no. The reason for it is because the Vortech or Paxton type blowers can't fit without modifying several things (especially the cross bar that runs the width of the engine compartment in front of the water pump and pulleys). This is also true of a 2 screw type blower because there are some serious clearence issues with the hood. To date, I have not heard of anyone doing this type of set up for Vipers.
Doug Levin has the most experience in this arena, but you do have to send your car to him. There are other tuners out there that have done blowers like Jason Hefner (sorry if I have forgotten any others in my middle aged moment). This application is pretty much reserved for drag racing applications. Many of these tuners are combining the blower with NOS to get some very outrageous HP numbers. One critcism of NOS is that it is difficult to control when it hits, which doesn't make it practical for road racing.
In the twin turbocharging arena, it gets even stickier because of the heat issues. This solution seems to be quite a bit more expensive than blower solutions. Obviously, the players here are Hennessey and SVSi. The rumor is that Doug Levin might be entering this market very soon. This application is probably more practical for road racing applications. Another player that you will probably be hearing more about in the not too distant future is Grant's Performance.
Whichever way that you decide to go, watch out for the torque that these solutions will bring to the table. Horsepower will give the adrenaline rush, and torque will kill you.
I hope that this helps. Good luck.
Brad
