This may be a stuid question but is there such thing as being too cold to drive your Viper? It's been hovering below freezing in the KC area with no precipitation. I drove to work with no issues. I drove my vette in snow even so I doubt that this would be an issue for the Viper.

Much of any damage results at start up. If your car is in a heated garage, then that's no problem. Otherwise, the temperature alone affects everything outside the cabin (assuming you turn your heat on). All lubricants, at some temperature point, provide less...well, lubrication. So there is going to be a some more general wear while driving in colder conditions.

Just start your car as usual ...

Only problem is with Michelin tires below 15F.
Be very carefull when you break.
You should get more HP with cold temp.

As a fellow Olathe, KS viper driver I have to insist it is to cold to drive. At least in my RT10 and since I have a busted top:(.

What up SB? I'll be taking my car out one of these days this week. Bringing it to my bro's new house to store the rest of the Winter :) It's easier for me to get through the Winter without seeing the car everyday without being able to take it out.

I usually notice about a 5% or greater performance in the cold.

I second the care in the cold tires.

If you don't mind a little wear do a few zig zags on the road before you get too aggressive to warm up the tires.

Olathe KS? Have we met? I had someone email me wanting to come by and check out my lift...was that you?

Jerry - Be careful! I originally converted SB from The Dark Side (yellow C5) and took him out in my GTS way back when. Since then he has never called, never written, and never sent a free pizza our way. ;) Of course he has also been out of the country for most of the year and I can see where $100 in VCA dues is pretty steep when you can't attend any events...

Huh??? It was 68 and sunny today, high 60's / low 70's through the weekend. I just wish the AC was colder. :D :D :D

Seriously, be careful with the cold tires on cold pavement.

Thanks for the replies.

Y2k5SRT - yep, I will give you credit for converting me from the darkside. Sorry haven't been attending any of the events. I was stuck in Germany for work for over year and now I have moved to Chicago. Did you not get that frozen pizza I sent from munich??? I see that you have now departed your "dark" side and gone bananas. Great choice!

Jerry - yes, that was me. I am in process of selling the house so inground lift is out.

zx1100- you *****! you need to go rip it up in the snow/ice. Chicago winters are nothing :) I am trying to drive my car as much as I can before I go back to Schaumburg...

Well it's great for the blowers, right Scott. That S/C must be running great with that cold air. Cold air is great for S/C's.

Moved both cars. It was cold and I knew better and didn't make any runs against Vette. A few fishtails out of the tolls with little throttle was about the only excitement. I'm not even going to think about moving the bike

When are you back in town? I'll be out until Dec. 28th. Grab lunch or something.
