So the top of 4th, around 5800rpm or so shows 110mph on my 97 GTS..

Are the speedos/tachs known to be a little off? Or do I have some crazy gears in my car?

What is the top of 4th with the factory 3.07's? 3.55's?

If my my gauges aren't wack, and top of 4th really is 110mph... Guess I have 4.10's?

I don't know but that can't be right. We just had a dyno day where the dyno was set to record power up to 140 mph (4th gear pulls). I was hitting 140 at about 5,000 rpms. I'm not sure if mine was right either or the dyno set up was whacked?

With OE tire dimensions and OE gears my '01 is as such

1st - 59mph at redline
2nd - 88
3rd - 120
4th - 156

5800 in 4th should be about 146 in my car. If I had 3.55:1 gears it would be 126 mph.

Riddle solved?

So I guess I have 4.11 gears or a whacked speedo in higher mph..

I GPS'd my car and it's runs roughly 5mph slow going 60-70mph.

What does your car run in 6th going 70mph?

Guess this explains why my car is so quick.

I was thinking the 3.55's were kind of matching your numbers. 4.11's would probably lower your 4th gear speed to about 100, not 120.

6th gear? Never use it.

Your car is quick because it is red.

Well I guess i'll find out when I pull them next month. If what all these other viper owners are saying is true, the factory 3.07's will work well with 700rwhp.

When I'm just cruising or stuck behind slow stupid people in the left lane, my cars running about 1500-1600 RPM in 6th at 70mph.
((I have a stock rear end in my '01 RT/10))

Stock rear in my '02 ACR as well... sounds about right...

4th Gear shows an indicated 162mph. At 125 mph my speedo shows a 3.5 mph difference compared too my GPS. Of course all speeds were done on a closed course.

fatherford,

If you want to swap my 3.07 for your 4.11 let me know...Just shoot me a PM

The 4.11's might work for drag racing a little better.

The top of 4th gear comes in about 150mph on my speedo.

Might could do that. When I get my viper back I'll verify what I have and PM you..

What speed is the top of 6th do you know....is it about 230mph?

If so, I'm making about 565rwhp 610rwtq and that would be PERFECT for the power this car has.

How do you guys figure this out? I've got a '96 and am wondering what the highest i should be going in each gear(just as a quick reference)... The owner's manual gives the lowest speeds for each gear to save on gas....who needs that?

Running 3:55 in mine. just put them in last spring.with 19" wheels I run 125 mph in 3rd.When I hit 4th it is still pulling hard I just back out of it. Thats enough to make my point on the open road.Sounds like you have lower gears then me. :drive:

Forza Motor Sports 2 :D

Now if I could rev to 7k....that would be sweet.

According to FM2

4.11 with the rest of the gears stock 4th would be 110mph at 6krpm.

How are you getting 125 in 3rd with 3.55's when my 3.07's redline at 120 mph in 3rd?

19" wheels don't explain that difference do they?

If you have a higher redline does the hp/tq curves still cross at 5250 rpm's? If so it would be awesome to run 4:10s with a 7k redline:omg:

It will ALWAYS cross at 5250rpms....it's in the formula. :2tu:

4:10 gears w/ 7000rpm redline, would be SWEET! As long as you stay N/A(or less than 700rwhp). With that high of a redline the cam needed to make power on the big end would cause you to loose some tq on the bottom. But...you wouldn't miss that extra tq on the bottom end with that 4.11 gear. You could still idle in the 600-700rpm range too.
