I toured the Viper plant with my cousin on Monday. It was quite a change to see such a low production assembly plant. I have worked for GM and Ford, and am used to seeing cars whizzing down the assembly line at 50-70 jobs per hour. I am also used to seeing a lot more salaried people, it is great that the craftspeople can work in teams and do their job without all that supervision that is normally needed in an assembly plant. I think it is great that Dodge is keeping this such a low production vehicle also. There were only 6 people taking the tour so that was nice for us. It was incredible to see all those Vipers and Prowlers waiting to be shipped out. Wow, what a picture. The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. I picked up a sweet blue and white leather jacket in the gift shop and some other goodies. They had mostly yellow Vipers being made, but also the dark blue and the red. I thought I remember the tour guide saying there was a 2003 Viper behind closed doors right by the gift shop. All in all, it was a great experience.

I am going to be there on the 27th. I am pumped and ready to go. I bought a 32 meg memory stick for my camera just for the occassion.

BTW, is the clothing in the gift shop the same price as online or is it discounted? Inquiring minds want to know. I would like a leather jacket but can't seem to bring myself to spend $700 to $800 on one.

Glad you enjoyed the tour.

Hi Norman, the jacket I got was $500 but was on sale for $400. I am not sure about the other ones. Also, I don't think the CAAP store has any online catalog, that is the Mopar Collection Catalog you are thinking of I think.
