Toyo 888 superior to Kumho\'s !

Spoke to Nadine who recently tried this new tire around Silverstone, *** reckoned it was far superior than the Kumho's she's been using for the last couple of years and now is a Toyo convert and wont go back to Kumho's, they're cheap too!

You say they're cheap? Anyone have a price? Where's JonB? That was the big thing about the Kumho's for me, you could just about buy two sets for the price of one set of Michelin PS2's.

Those are really nice. I wonder if the rim protector would reach around on stock viper wheels. Big question as Mr. Fang asked, are they avail in the states???

I talked to my Toyo Dealer - a friend for many years. This about 5-6 hours ago. He called his supplier, and was told they (Proxes R888)are not currently imported to the US and didn't know when they would be available here.

heh... how about a group buy from the UK to have shipped to the US?

My guess is some DOT red tape thats keeping them from being sold here.

anything is possible it just needs someone to take the reins and sort it all out, our last US group buys here were a load of Mobil 1 and headers

i guess the toyos will slowly filter across to US shores, going by the Kumhos we had them here for about 12 months before they started to appear for sale in the US

Using the Kumho's for hill climbs and sprints as they are much softer and heat up faster, (just a few minutes long competitions) and the Toyo's for longer sessions

Toyo 295's on ACR rims, and Comp Coupe BBS one piece magnesium rims.

I'm no tire engineer, but it's wierd how there not a whole lot of treads on the tire... looks like it wouldn't handle well in the rain.

Toyo RA-1's are a fantastic tire that the World Challenge Vipers run........and they are DOT legal.

Yes, the RA-1's are a great tire, but there must be some reason to build the R888. Looking at the tread, perhaps better in the DRY?
Also, wouldn't they have to be DOT legal before they could be available here?

I saw some of the prices in the states and I don't think they're cheap. I saw some prices in the $400 range for rear sizes.

I see them in the US for about $400 as well. Anyone else with real live experience? My car is a pretty high hp supercharged daily driver that only sees rain if there is an unexpected shower. In the dry, Pilots are like ice skating, BF drag radials can keep a good bit of power to the ground, but are terrible in the corners. My Kumho V700 have less traction than the drag radials, take the corners very well, but are very ugly on stock rims with no protective bead. So what I'm looking for is anyone that has first hand info on these tires in a similar situation to mine.
