Trade in value in Kelly Blue Book vs. Reality?

Anybody have personal experience on what the actual trade in value of your SRT10 is at a dealership vs. the Kelly Blue Book Trade In Value they show?

My car for example, with just 6,700 miles shows a KBB trade in value of $63K, which is less than what I am asking, and I have HRE wheels, Nav, etc.

So how much of a discount will a dealer knock off the trade-in value listed in KBB?

I'm trying to look at different angles of how to sell the car, and I am actually looking for a different car for my girl, so a trade-in could work if the value was right.

Manny - my local dealer-friends tell me that values from Edmunds.com better reflect West Coast prices than KBB.

You can never predict. The key factor for a dealer is desirability, aka how likely is he/she to resell it at a profit. I will pay over wholesale for a car that I know I can turn. I won't pay close to wholesale for a car that I'm gonna have to work to sell.

Unfortunately for SRT10 sellers, there aren't people just lining up to buy these cars. Dealers know that, and they purchase accordingly. I'm not trying to be negative, just trying to give an honest answer to the question.

You can get a more accurate pricing by throwing darts at a dartboard than KBB gives

You may make out better by putting the car back to stock and selling the HRE's and NAV, etc. yourself. IMO

As mentioned before you will do better by selling the wheels and nav unit and putting it back to stock. In fact I will buy the wheels if they are in good condition.

I watch these at manheim auctions all across the country, california is the best market at wholesale auction and I have seen some go for CRAZY money. If interested I can probably assist in sending it to auction there for you. PM me if interested

It's still for sale Doug. $2K cheaper without the wheels since I would have to buy some stock ones to put on the car (back to stock wheel.)

Thanks to everybody for the info on the dealers. I will put it to the test this weekend and see what happens.

Its kind of supply and demand. The SRT Rams are at crazy low prices in reality vs what KBB and Edmunds would say. A stock SRT Ram reg cab with about the same mileage as yours with no mods can be had for 30-33K. Sticker is well into the 40s. Specialty vehicles dictate their own prices and can both help and hurt the market. When the owners sell their Vipers and tell us what they got for it other possible purchasers will use that as a guide when looking for their vehicle. I'm guessing that with so many '05s and probably some '04s still around the dealerships that prices are pretty low just to get them out the door. Add to that the surplus of convertibles at the factory and it makes for less then ideal conditions as a seller.

Dealers were hitting me at auction price of 55k for my 05
with 8k in extras and 1700 miles.

On the east coast around here dealer wholesale price is for the most part based on Galves and their retail price is based on NADA.
