Transmission exchange/repair under warranty?

Don't take me wrong, I absolutely love my Viper. But the transmission ***** big time. When hot I can't put 3rd gear from 2nd in high RPM (around 5400). It's not only my viper - a buddy of mine with Eurospec Viper has exactly the same problem so I assume this is problem across the board.

I don't expect Viper tranny handling the same like my S2000 - it handles much more torque obviously - but - gees - it's really embarrassing and annoying not being able to get into 3rd gear on a racetrack, road o a 1/4 mile run.

I don't believe and refuse arguments that it could be caused by tranny fluid etcetc as was suggested in some threads. My car has 10k miles, my buddy's car has 6k.

I drove a forum member 04 viper once (ILLSMOQ) and his tranny was real smooth. He mentioned that it was rebuilt GTS tranny or something.

I am determined to bring car to dealer and ask for a warranty repair. My question is if anyone tried this.

My Viper has just over 18,000 miles since I got it new and it has always shifted well. It shifts well anywhere in the rev range including at 6000 rpm.

Shifting problems are NOT an across the board problerm.

I am glad to hear this. It would mean that there are transmissions which work and ours could be repaired to work too. Just anyone tried this under warranty?

I had problems going from 3rd to 4th on the race track until I installed a short throw shifter. I haven't missed a shift since.

However, my tranny did blow up last weekend at the track. Its covered under the 7/70 warranty, no questions asked.

I have over 22,000 miles on my 2003 viper with the stock tranny and it shifts like silk after I installed a Hurst/Mopar shifter, a custom built shifter handle, and Royal Purple transmission fluid. I can shift through all gears without using the clutch. I have also installed the comp coupe transmission mount and Poly motor mounts. These have made the car shift even easier as it has taken the flex out of the engine-transmission package.

I anyone doubts that the above works you are welcome to test drive our house car. We will be at the Steak Loft in Mystic, CT for the Spring Run if you would like to try this setup.
