Transmission Mount

I recently picked up a couple NOS Transmission mounts, supposedly the first ones offered by Woodhouse (GTS-R?) that reduces vibration/etc. Is there any benefit to installing it if I don't also have the engine mounts? I know I've read of people doing just the engine mounts, but not the other way around. Thanks for any insight!

The stocker is hollow and will split as can be seen in the pic. The Woodhouse is a bit harder material and is solid. I haven't installed it yet but just by visual comparison the Woodhouse looks to be the most durable.

Taking a guess... that the majority of the impact is from doing the motor mounts. I did the tranny mount and crossmember alone and honestly don't remember much difference. Pretty sure that was with FUBR motor mounts. Then later I did the motor mounts and the difference was huge.

To answer your question, I've done lots of stuff to my car on the technical foundation of just do it, or just because. I think as little as the tranny mount costs and as easy as it is to put in, just... do...

Thank you both for the insight. Yeah, for the price I'll just put it in. Wanted to make sure by beefing up that mount I wouldn't be causing too much extra stress on other parts (the motor mounts).

I like Chuck and like data, but in regards to the picture and data above, I would like to point out that measuring the surface energy of an dampener versus the actual dynamic performance of the part as a component in a complex assembly may not be a good comparison. There are also many other properties of dampeners/mounts like tensile and tear resistance and so on to consider.

That being said, Woodhouse is a trusted name and I would use their products without hesitation. Same with the Energy Suspension/DBB mount that Parts Rack now offers.

I agree 100%. The pic is just one part of the story. From what I've found the material is available in different hardness 8x, 9x. The pic just shows that the Woodhouse mount used the harder material. Take that for what it's worth.

My mount was broken, so there was a major improvement in shifting when I replaced it with woodhouse.
FYI, it's a very easy install; 20-30 minutes.

MG's require much less effort for the 2-3 throw than the Viper.


In reality, I frequently went 2-5. Which is much better than 3-2 vs. 3-4.
