Wouldn't it be a bit early to announce the coupe and kill '05 SRT-10 sales? Does anyone think the coupe will come before the 2006 model year? If the coupe comes as an '06, I wouldn't expect to hear about it 'til the beginning of '05, maybe at the Detroit show in January.

How and when did they roll out the GTS?

Chad

Since when were SRT sales strong to begin with? DC needs something that will at least sell. A coupe will.

I would bet for an announcement at VOI. What else are they gonna bring for the Viper community? The slingshot and charger?

Dodge is going to have to bring a charger out real soon if it wants to stay in NECKCAR so I think that is a given. After that only a Viper makes sense or DC will be wasting people's time.

The cannibalization of the SRT-10 because of a GTS is DC's fault, I hope they put it right, make a GTS and learn that enthusiasts want hardtop cars.

Slingshot: I've heard from several sources it's dead.

Charger: The body templates have to be submitted to NASCAR by 7/1 to race in the '05 season. It seems like the Charger is going to be a very important car to the company and as such they will want very high exposure when it is unveiled. Showing it first at VOI just doesn't make much sense - it may be there if there is a prior unveiling (Such as at the Pepsi 400 at Daytona).

Viper Coupe: it makes alot of sense to show this vehicle at VOI. Since I'm looking to pick up a used SRT-10, hopefully the debut of the coupe will drop the convertible prices.

Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab: supposedly this vehicle is going to be available in the fall, so why not debut another Viper powered truck at VOI in September?

The slingshot was just a sarcastic remark on my part that shows how thrilled I am with the current state of the Chrysler side of DC. Wow a sporty little 3 cylinder POS roadster that does 0-60 in 8 + seconds. What's so slingshot about that? Factor in all the $$ wasted on this drifting crap. Uber $$ for NASCAR and no legitimate factory Viper racing program and you have the sad state of affairs that now exist.

Convertibles are great for cruising but that's about it. For track use they just aren't safe. I am baffled as to why DC didn't introduce a coupe first.

That 06 Charger concept looks pretty kick ass! How much will that be, and what are the specs?

I'll take the 99 concept, but '06 doesn't do it for me. Why even call the '06 a charger? It doesn't look like a charger!

It was a 4 door at the Detroit Auto Show as well, but it still looked sharp, although I have to admit, a 4 door Charger, more of a family style car I guess. But I would almost bet it will have a Hemi now, not a blown 360. In 1999 the Hemi was still a dream, now it is more than a reality, and Dodge is wasting no time in putting it in practically everything that moves that is bigger than a Neon.

Those pics of the '06 Charger are just Popular Hot Rodding's idea of what an LX based Charger might look like. From what I understand, there is no reason to believe the actual car will look like that.

A note on the '99 concept: it was originally designed (and patented) as a 2 door until the "higher ups" told the designers to change it to a four door lest the project be killed. The concept was powered by a CNG engine which, I believe, was the 4.7 not the venerable 360.

Personally I would be happy with either car. The 300C has me excited about a 4 door car, first time in a while that has happened.
