I just finished a 3:55 rear end install, transmission service, cooling system service and install of magnecor wires. My car since pulling out of the dealership is making a weird rattling noise, kinda like the sound a metal washer would make jingling aroung loose on a bolt, tin sounding sorta. sounds like its coming from everywhere, cannot pinpoint it. It only occurs if car is in gear and being driven, and can be somewhat controlled (made to stop) in first thru second gear with accelerator pedal play, (almost like resonance). then it starts back up around and will remain at higher sppeds no matter what. It will not occur if car is not moving and engine is revved and revving while driving (putting clutch in to do so)does not increase it. any ideas? bad rear end install? inadequate fluid replacement upon tranny or cooling syst serv? heatshield from wire install? im at a loss and so is dealer?

Is the noise more noticable when you let your foot off of the gas pedal? Does it go away when you give it gas? Try going down a hill with your foot off of the gas and see if the sound is worse. Make sure the Mopar transmission fluid was used. The part # is 04874459. I had used the GM tranny fluid which there was a crossover # on the tranny for. I had a similar sound when I went to 355's and also changed my transmission fluid. I have a 98 silver GTS. I changed out the GM fluid and put in the Mopar fluid. My rattling washer sound went away shortly thereafter.

thnx guys for the input. i was changing plugs today and when i wen tto take off the plastic whatchamacallit on the passenger side to get to those back plugs, i noticed it was rather loose. well after finishing my work, tightened it up good and i havent heard the noise since. i went for about a two mile drive, all gears, up to over 60mph, on and off accelerator and i cannot duplicate the sound from yesterday. i guess its possible when they did my plug wires, they had that plastic whatchamacallit loose and thats what was making noise? im baffled. anyway, car drives excellent so ill just turn the radio up if it starts again.
