Update from NMCA Viper/Vette Shootout in Columbus..............

Hello,

I will make it quick because its late and I'm tired...

3 Vipers showed up and only 1 corvette. I guess a combination of other events, the inclimate weather last night and the extremely short notice all added to the low turnout.

In a nutshell, all Vipers smoked their clutches, Jack B, TurboRob and myself.

The corvette is a half breed car....a C-4 bodystyle with a Stage II Buick GN engine with a T-76 Turbo/Intercooler and racing automatic transmission. This car would not be legal to race in the series, but seeing that he was the only corvette to show up and is a very nice fellow to boot, he is racing with us.

The best race of the day pitted me against this corvette. The corvette ran 9.77 @ 140 to my winning but slower 9.80 @ 144.(got him at the tree and pulled him down track with higher MPH)

We will be going at it again tomorrow for the TV folks along with TurboRob and any others that may come at the last minute.

P.S. Not bragging but, thats (2) different BTR Vipers at TWO different tracks, both running in the 9's this weekend.

I couldn't Make the Race! Circumstances beyond my control, No Big deal! My schedule is slowing down so Hoperfully I will be able to get back to the track with no more distractions real soon!
However I am having a great time with my family this weekend!

Yesterday (Sunday) was the eliminations for all of the NMCA classes including ours. With a small turnout for the "SuperCar Challenge" we elected to have the Corvette and I race heads up again as we did on Saturday night for the 9.90 index final elimination.

I ran a 9.86 to his 9.96 to take the win.

Next I ran motor against motor with TurboRob as he had no one to race against..and we needed more action for the TV folks. We had a nearly even start, then I started pulling slightly by the 330' and 1/8th before Rob missed 3rd gear due to clutch issues that plagued us all through the weekend. I ran an 11.35 on that pass. My best motor pass of the weekend was an 11.20 at 124 mph.

Rob was running on Nittos and his car hooked HARD and ran great!

Unfortunately Jack B never got to make a full pass due to clutch woes, he's probably got the thing apart by now and going back together.
