I was very dissapointed in the sound of my stock system. Today I upgraded the head only and the sound so awesome I decided to keep the stock speakers and amp for now. definately work the time.

My experience, also. The weak spot in the Viper sound system is the Alpine head unit. Replacing that makes a noticable sound improvment, even on an RT/10.

What kind of head unit did you go with? I've had a hell of a time finding one that will utilize the factory amp. Or did you make your own harness to convert? Where did you purchase it?

I acutally thought the RT/10 had a nice system being that it is stock but the only problem I have is the lack of a 6 disc changer so I have to change the stock unit in order to do this. Still unsure.

I agree, the weak link is the head unit - I went with Panasonic CQ-C1300U, AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA. RCA outputs to both amps.

I just swapped out the speakers with speakers that fit like factory. Holes lined up and all. Still sounded like crap. I also wanted to hook up my 12 CD changer I have, so yesterday I swapped out the head unit for an Alpine CDA-9855. Sounds 9 times better. I think I need an amp to really make it sound as good as possible for this car, but I don't think I'm going to do it because that means rewiring the entire system. Not to mention no where to put the bigger amp. I think I can live with the sound system now. It's much better.
