Yea that'll be a great new hemi but if it doesn't have aftermarket tuning, it'll be limited.

As for the GT500, my '14 sounds identical, I have Raven Racings 13-6 kit and track exhaust. 10s on MPSS tires, 305 rears. DR or slicks would make it easy for 10s all day. From a roll it rips your face off. I love my gen4 with its catback, etc., but from a roll it wouldn't stand a chance and from a dig, not much better, lol.

Great interview with Ralph on that other thread. Check it out if you haven't already, he gives good info.

Maybe I just ****, lol...Whipple 2.9, Pulley, TB, Kooks Lt's, X pipe, Invo's 315/35/20 on rear. Sounds like I need a driving lesson. JD

You certainly need no help in putting a solid recipe together for power, that's a perfect setup. I've bee sliding over powered stangs down the 1/4 mile since '87, I have a shelf of trophies from local events, from before I realized turning is more fun, but no pro by any means.

If SRT can deliver a similar situation with this engine, then the skies the limit. For stock guys, it'll rip, if you can tne it, it'll be like the GT500, simple tweaks for 100hp, bolt-ons for crazy power, too easy. I hope they go this route, it'll really pump up some excitement with folks not already in the SRT population. And the heavier cars really need the power to be playful, easier than trying to rip out weight.

I think you're right...I'm not an experienced driver and I tend to think horse power is overrated. Where is Bradaton? I would welcome the opportunity to see what my GT500 could do with someone who knew what they were doing. JD
Near Tampa .Approx 5 years ag o McMullen Argus moved their offices from NJ (Englishtown home test track )to Tampa (Bradaton now their home test track )Their mags include Muscle Mustang and Fast Ford,Super Chevy Mopar Perf Illust ,GM High Tech .If your ever near the Tampa area shoot me a pm and we will go fom there .Once in a while their head test driver (from NJ )still hits Englishtown

My buddy has run 11.6 at near 129 totally stock ,stock ties in 80 degree weather. In 2 weeks hes in NJ but it would have to be at Eown test and tune Wend night as there is no skeduled private track test.Hes pretty sure IF the tracks VHT to the 60 foot mark in 50 deg weather low 11s at 130 is possible

PS near 130 Trap STOCK that Stang is pretty heavy so it must be making big power as my Gen 4 was trapping at that and i think its at least a few hundred lbs lighter if iam correct

Snorman, who has owned a bunch of fast cars including Vipers and GTR's has run an 11.3? in his bone stock GT500. That's a heck of a lot of bang for the buck right there!

The G2 is far easier to launch, look at the 1st gear ratio. Secondly, with the G5 you are limited in what rear tires you can use.

The launch control on the Gen 5 should help I would think, my Gen2 is not bad , but still can spin the tires like your on ice, I thought the Gen5 would be better then the Gen2.

A simple Mustang GT 5.0 auto with some boost will already rule a gen 4 viper with headers/exhaust/ECU/ported intake and probably a gen 5.
The mustang WILL win every time from a dig (D.R or slicks) or roll racing. Ask me how I know...
My 13 GT trapped 136mph on only 6 psi of boost and only 15* of timing on pump gas. It run 10.6 with drag radials on 19s and terrible delayed shifting by the 6spd auto tranny.
It would've run 10.000s if it shifted properly that day.
The best I ever run with my viper was 10.8 @ 127 with the mods above and drag radials. Maybe it would run a tenth faster with a better driver but it wouldn't beat the mustang GT never mind a bolt on 5.8 shelby or big blower shelby with a good driver.
The biggest problem with this 8.4L engine is the top end/ high rpm capabilities are very limited. Low end and mid range is great but won't win you the race shifting at 6000 and change while the mustang shifts at 7500rpm and you can adjust to shif at 7800rpm!! I know there are a lot of factors that play into a race but this is just a huge one that does not benefit the viper at all.

Swap for the whipple 4.0L or 4.5L. It will rock your world on your very first pass. My friend is running the 4 liter whipple on his 2010 shelby and is running low 9s. the other one is going
after 8s with his new 4.5L whipple. It made 1070 RWHP @ 25 psi on the dyno and was spinning its tires for most part on that run. The first car is street legal and he even go grocery
shopping and take it to work. The second one not so much.

Ford is way ahead of the game when the subject is straight line performance for modern muscle cars and supercars. This hell cat project makes me laugh.. RIP hemi....

I don't think the Viper was ever really designed with the drag strip in mind though, so all the talk of Mustangs beating them seems a little off-base. The Viper has always been a road course car. It has the low and mid range power to pull you out of corners, not the top end scream to max it out in a straight line. One car isn't going to be everything to everyone. Sure it ***** to get beaten by something "common" when you're driving a high dollar exotic, but odds are you can probably beat them in a different venue. I got beaten by a pretty plain jane Mustang at a stop sign the other day, but the big reason was because I was lighting the tires up, even with all my throttle feathering. If I had DRs I probably would have walked him, but I just know it's not a fight I'm going to win, so it doesn't bother me as much. I'd rather have all the low end grunt to be able to pull hard in any gear than have a Honda Civic motor that makes 800 hp, but only does that for the last 500 rpm of its rev range.

Afew years ago i was with the mag guys at Englishtown for a test and tune night .There were Mustangs driven in off the street running low 8s As you put it Ford designs the Cobra to be heavily modded with a hugh Rand D Budget Dodge does not

The big news, IMO, is the 8-speed auto. It will make the 5.7.s as fast or faster than my 07 6.1 SRT with the 5-speed, and lookout with the 6.4 and coming Hellcat. There are 6.4s with the 5-speed making it (stock) low 12s in the 1/4, so these are going to be very fast cars.

My 07 Charger SRT handles pretty well for what it is (it's no Viper, obviously!). I imagine this upfraded new platform/tranny combo is going to be killer.

From what I am reading the Hellcat engine will be available in the 2015 SRT Charger and Challenger but at a steep price of about $7000. I am anxiously waiting for SRT to announce the details for the SRT. Last I checked they said that there was no info on the cars ( SRT ) available yet but would get posted to their web site as soon as there is.
