Never let it out of your sight and never let anybody else drive it unless you are in the car. I've run the MD/VA Xmas party for the last two years, my biggest dealbreaker with the very upscale hotels I've shopped for this party are. We park our own cars, the valets don't, the parking is roped off and gaurded. If you won't agree to that, I don't want to talk about the room or the food.

Dimitrios-
You should have it fixed the way you want without compromise and check with your insurance company. With "No Fault" in NY after you Viper is fixed to your satisfaction they will then sue the insurance carrier for the parking lot. Check with your insurance company first and use a body shop that is willing to work with you. Sometimes the Parking Lot will make you an offer and you might not have to involve your carrier if you are lucky.

By the way, forget valet parking...you need a full time security guard to watch your yellow beauty.

Hi D, if Chucks guy doesnt work out let me know. I work at a body shop in LI, and the painter is awesome at matching colors. The damage really doesnt look too bad. It looks like the quarter panel has to fixed and re clear coated.

hey guys. just got my estimate from the body shop that i have been dealing for the past 10 years and it came to $1720. this included door, rear RIGHT quarter panel, under the bumper where they ran over a folding chair, curb mark on rear rim repair at wheels america and LEFT rear quarter panel that they scuffed up from trying to clean bird droppings with some rough cloth while i was getting the police for a report.

NOW the owner of the parking garage doesnt wast to get insurance involved and it seems to me he doesnt wanna pay for much except for the quarter panel at his guys repair shop. dont i have a choice where i like to get it repaired since i have the upper hand? BTW the valet guy didnt have a drivers liscense. here is what he said>

"Dimitrios,

The damage does not look that bad. It looks as if a section of quarter panel needs to be painted and blended in. The rest should come out with a compound and polish. I deal with two shops that can take a look at it. One is on the west side on 53rd st. and the other is downtown by the Williamsburg bridge on Delancey St.. The shop on delancey street does the work for Lexus of Manhattan as well as the over flow work for Mercedes Manhattan and BMW Manhattan.

Let me know which shop you want to have take a look at it so that I can make the arangements.

Gary"

Your car-your choice on who repairs it. Once I got suckered into the 'I know a shop that will do a great job, let me pay them and not involve the insurance'; needless to say I wasn't happy with the repair job and got screwed.

You had a perfect car before, you will want a perfect car afterwards. As to what the parking garage owner wants, well tell him to kiss your asp :) :)

D, go where you feel comfortable, Like Wild Bill said, you car was in perfect shape before, it should be returned that way. If you want second opinion you can swing my way and have a very trusted body man look at it. I am working from home this week. JW.

If the garage owner refuses to pay you, what will you do?

If he says, "my guy said the didn't do it", do you have a police report?

I bet the guy strings you along for awhile and then says he dont know nuth'n about your car.

Dimitrios,
Be careful with the original digital files. Store the original files on a master CD. Don't open and re-save the files. Also, don't rotate the files. Your camera records meta data that has the creation date, time, settings...opening and working with the files changes all of this data. You know that digital files can be manipulated. Using digital cameras as evidence can be useful and useless at the same time.

Also, before using the camera as evidence, make sure that the date and time are correct. Set the camera's clock prior to using it for this purpose. Some cameras record in RAW mode. This RAW file is like a fingerprint from your camera and therefore is preferable as evidence.

Good luck!

Demand your own shop, not his that he probably refers out all his banged up cars to for shoddy repair jobs.

The fact that the valet didn't have a drivers license is a big plus for you. Any attorneys on here?? I bet that's the reason he doesn't want to get his insurance involved...they probably won't cover damage done by a valet with no license.

Dimitrios has the upperhand because of that issue. When attorney's get involved, it should be a hands down victory for Dimitrios' side. The only problem that he will encounter is if the valet's insurance does not cover it, then that could lead to a LONG run around.

If you tell the owner that your calling the lawer right now (and pull out the cell phone in front of him) knowing that his vallet had no license he will crack, If he doesent hes a really dumb business man.

How are you going to prove any of this if you go to court?

I mean if the guy just stonewalls you, what do you have to prove your case?

Hey STU, Yo Mama!

Just kidding.
